Putting the murder solving puzzle together= square pieces with JONES name..but, first comes the blue squares= events unfolding until the deed happens and the big black box is... murder, followed by the name BARNABY JONES appearing in scatalogically, scrambled, and jumbled form= repping JONES getting clues and info..and finally, BARNABY JONES putting it all together and solving what the audience already knows, and he comes out on top and straightens out his own thoughts into a cohesive conclusion... Jerry Goldmith did this theme, and JONATHAN GOLDSMITH as JONATHAN LIPPE before changing his name back to GOLDSMITH, acted in guest roles on the show a few times. But, nope..neither are related. WHO IS JONATHAN GOLDSMITH? Dos Equis MOST INTERESTING MAN IN THE WORLD, ring a bell..? STAY OLD TV SHOW WATCHING, MY FRIENDS.

Damn, I miss the 1970's and 1980's. The best TV series were in those two decades.

The nineties had a few gems too like Frasier, The X Files, In Living Color etc. But I agree the 70s and 80s were in leagues of their own

When it came to the theme songs, the narrator setting the stage for the episode or the way the shows having an ACT 1-4 format nobody did it better than Quinn Martin from THE FBI to CANNON, BARNABY JONES, THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO, etc.

The music made it seem like THE most dramatic and actionfilled show out there! The actual show was quite a bit tamer, but still good.

Awesome piece of music for the Barnaby Jones theme….Very NFL Film-ish ….smooth and flowing…great rhythm, and tempo….the horns, the flute, the bass line, the drummer using the high hat and not much else…..a great classic TV theme song….
