The reason this story is so genius is that the siren does almost nothing in the way of action; she simply takes advantage of the sailors’ desires and fears to get them to bring about their own demise in a way that would make the devil himself proud. She might as well be a just a hallucination.

I actually performed this entire monologue as a performance for my drama’s student talent showcase! I was a drunken pirate telling a story to a crowd and it was awesome! I will email you the video if you want to see my work

Fun fact: the earliest storys of sirens imply they were birds and there was art showing the crew being attacked by the bird sirens
