We leave the beautiful Invercoe Caravan and Motorhome Park and head to Oban Ferry Terminal where we board the ferry to Castlebay on the Isle of Barra. We stay at Barra Sands Campsite and explore the Islands of Barra and Vatersay, discovering stunning sandy beaches and quaint buildings and causeways.

Thanks for watching our videos. We include all things to do with motorhomes, campervans, van conversions, caravans and the great outdoors. We mainly tour the UK and camp around 80 nights per year in our 2021 IH Motorhomes N-680 CRL luxury VW Crafter van conversion. We offer advice, tips and tricks, review campsites and associated products or services. We also occasionally make videos about other trips we take without the motorhome.

Vatersay and Barra are two little gems. Hardly any traffic on the islands and the people are so very friendly. Someone compared it to Orkney so we are putting that in the list for a later date 😉😃🚐💙 Trev n Sue

This was a cracking start for us. One of our most enjoyable tours with so much beauty and so few people. Those we did meet were friendly and welcoming. We took advantage of as many local shops and businesses as we could and enjoyed every day 😃🚐👍🏻💙 Trev n Sue

Hi Trev and Sue, the Invercoe site is lovely. nice to see the ferry crossing, Barra Sands campsite looks good. Nice Community Centre and coffee and cake sounds good. Beautiful beaches. It was a lovely start to our islands adventure. Very peaceful and quiet. Very few cars on the islands. The wind was blowing most of the time but not a problem unless you are in a tent 🤣😃👍🏻💙 Trev

Loved this video ♥️. Such wonderful views and the beaches are amazing. As you said it was like the Caribbean I’m surprised you didn’t go for a dip in the sea . Those cakes looked delicious. Looking forward to seeing the next video 👍

Hi Trevor and Sue. What a lovely country Scotland is. I used to go to Fraser burgh a lot with work, that's on the east side. Wow very small roads, certainly couldn't do them in a caravan. Got Su to Scotland a few years ago Stirling, she will not go in the caravan though. To much rain and midges.😮 Have a lovely time guys. Thank you for sharing. Thumbs up thumped 👍 .... Pete and Su....

Thanks Pete & Su, we love Scotland and if you go early or late season you miss the midgies. There are some amazing sites with good access for caravans. But one year we rented a cottage on the Isle of Skye, it was amazing to have the car and find all the hidden beauties 😃👍🏻💙 Trev

Same pitch at Invercoe, different pump at the BP garage 😃 Been really looking forward to watching this trip Trev and Sue. Just brilliant - loved seeing the exit from Oban again - we watched those big ferries passing us at Pennygown on Mull. Do you get decent food options on board? - as its five and a half hours? Vatersay and Barra look incredible - the beaches are wonderful and that azure blue of the sea!! 😍 Nice little community centre on Vatersayand Castlebay looks a lovely little place. Great first couple of days on the Outer Hebrides guys, we are going to do this trip, but maybe in 26 as 25 is already mapped out!! Have a great weekend 👍👍

It was a great start to the island hopping. The food on the ferries was pretty good with regular, vegie and vegan options. We didn’t eat on board but many people did. All the facilities and staff were excellent 👌 These islands were extremely quiet. I have to say, it was a relief to get away from the noise of the mainland 😉 Next time we on South Uist 👍🏻 🚐💙 Trev

Yes, there was plenty of space and very few people on these two islands. Tourists are welcome and we respectfully used as many local services as we could afford to get the most from our experience 😃👍🏻🚐 Trev

Troutbeck Head is beautiful. There’s plenty to see in the area if you have transport. We prefer the north lakes as it’s much quieter 😃👍🏻💙 Trev

Well what can I say me and lindsey been to Vatersay 18 years ago when we had are motorhome no community hall then only old shed we have been two time's. We have been go a Auto Sleeper not this year but next year we will be there walking on the sand. Anyway what lovely video .

Trev, i will be following this series closely as i plan to do something similar in the autumn. I have been taking notes already, and was starting to get excited when you were disembarking at Castlebay! My maps have just arrived, so starting to plot routes. Looking forward to your next videos. Very envious of you going there. Take warm clothes and waterproofs as it’s windy and sometimes wet 😉 Otherwise just soak up the beautiful peace and quiet of these laid back islands. We turned right when leaving the ferry and it’s the rocky route but don’t worry the A888 on Barra is a loop and you end up back where you started 👍🏻😃🚐💙 Trev

Yes we did everything online before we left. Not essential but many of the sites and ferries get full to capacity, so choice is limited if you wing it. We are not ones for wild camping but we do like to find the beauty spots for a good walk during the day. 😃🚐👍🏻 Trev
