Owls are not particularly wise or intelligent at all. They operate almost entirely on instinct, as do most raptors.
@justin23084 жыл бұрын
William Reely And yet, that instinct leads to some human-like behaviors (such as a maternal instinct and raising children) that raptors can do better than a lot of humans themselves? I think humans and animals have different orientations of intelligence. Our intelligence is mostly learned with underlying instinct whereas animals have mostly instinct with the capacity to learn according to different environments and treatment. Animals aren’t just systematic creatures or organic robots. If you look, you can see that there is definitely something more there with a lot of them.

I'm so lucky to have a mated pair behind my place in the woods I hear all of the time... It's a great treat that never tire of... You should hear when they do the "monkey call' !... Look it up on TY, if you have never heard it. I was the chief naturalist for a state parks nature center, and would go on night owl calling hikes with a group of folks to call them in, in a remote natural environment. These Owls are absolutely silent in flight, and many times would land unknown just yards above us in the trees, and start their calls. This would startle the heck out of even the most steely nerved person, in the best possible way. It was so amazing for folks from urban areas to experience this, heck even country folk who had heard them before, but never almost on top of you! Those chipmunks are very wise to call the alarm, as this owl loves small rodents VERY much, so please don't use poison bait to control mice, etc. Great video, thanks for sharing.

Progress is great in some ways but sure sucks in other ways. So far we have been able to hold on to our cardinals, some doves, hummingbirds, mockingbirds, sparrows, and grackles. Of course it's just a matter of time before the city tells us we have to cut down the natual trees and brush that these beautiful birds live in.Then it will be game over.😢 We should enjoy wildlife for as long as possible.
