This is one of the best ID videos out there. Thanks for including photos of the bark, tree shape and leaf shapes as well as growing ranges. You pack so much useful information in this video. Keep making videos! You’re very good at it, and it helps probably millions of people.

I see plenty of deer on my property eating locus and I have a fair amount locus trees and I would say bucks eat about ten percent more than the Does and turkeys sure do eat them.

Great video. I'd like to ask a question please? When spring, summer and fall scouting and/or hunting, what to you do to protect yourself from ticks and chiggers? Thanks

This owl call woke me up while camping at Lake Crescent, Washington. It was so loud! We were at the Fairholme campground and it was calling to another owl farther away. Eventually a dog started barking and then a baby started crying 😂. Amazing sound to be right next to. LOUD!

Wild animals eat the guts, organs, bones, humans eat what they left. Found the first tom I ever lost with a bow or shotgun. if I walked 50' further I would have found him that day but hunters were near by. They actually told someone they saw it fall out of a tree. The internals were gone and they had been working on the breasts.

I just read that they're planning to kill nearly a half million of these amazing birds out west in order to preserve another owl species (spotted). Who's with me to start a petition?
@stynway59
@stynway59 3 күн бұрын
Well. They're invasive, having followed humans to the west. The Spotted Owl is indigenous to the west, part of a formerly balanced system. The Barred Owls are still plentiful to the east. It's a tough decision. Plus, it usually doesn't work

I guess if it's scouting season, it's coyote season . Best, do your scouting with rifle in hand. Good luck, good video.

I have been running cameras since May. Had a few doe go by with a fawn in tow in late May early June. The last two camera checks thru mid to late June showed doe's with ZERO fawns. Several trail cam videos had a coyote spooking deer. Ran snares on a previous farm I hunted and we caught over 25 coyotes in 4 years. This land owner has dogs that mostly stay at the farm house, but follow the owner around when he is on his ATV and he doesn't want to get them out of a snare so trapping is out.

See if he will let you call the coyotes at night...cause ya know as well as anyone if they aren't knocked down or eliminated they are going to eat every fawn they get their Jaws on.

I did a little scouting from the truck last week on some public land we hunt and seen several does and fawns but no bucks. Unfortunately that piece of public is still flooded with runoff water. Hopefully things return to normal soon
