Thanks to Barrina I can test out another light, Ive been using these for the great pothos race and they have worked fantastic for any plant on a plank! If you are growing stuff up poles and planks this will help get the lower leaves to stick around and get great light!

Same, i reveiw a lot of lights but many dont typicall fit into my use case but this one has and ive been using it ever since

Been using these since early February in a room that gets 0 natural light, and they're definitely doing the trick on my Anthuriums. Great alternative to the Mother grow lights!

Love these but 62$? I can buy a shop light for 19$ at Home Depot and set it up vertical it is still better than mothers priceing i dont understand how they think they can charge that for a shop light😂

It was on sale recently but yeah it is a bit pricy. You could also buy one of there like 4 or 6 pack shop lights and just hang it from one end. I think you are paying a bit more for the aesthetic and ease of use I guess

it seems lately they are putting them on sale on amazon i saw them for like 42 bucks, not sure if its still going but not to bad compared to like the close to 100 i think mother is

Hey Matt, thanks for testing these out. Besides the stand, is there anything different between these guys and the Barrina T5s besides the length? If you’re just mounting it vertically inside a grow tent (strapped to tent poles), for instance, is there any benefit here or are you better off just buying cheaper Barrina lights? Also worth mentioning that compared to Mother standing lights, I’m sure these are probably significantly (like 80%+) cheaper.

So these have a higher wattage/output than the T5s, I did some looking and the T5s are single row LEDS. I think this is much closer to their T8 model which is about 42 watts. IF you are going to be hanging the lights I would pass on this and buy one of their light packs intended for it. Looking at the prices if you want the T5 I think its worth getting the pack because two of the 3ft 16W T5 light bars should come close to the output of this. 32W vs 40W and you can spread out the T5s for a better light pattern. This light really should be purchased if you intend to use it vertically. the horizontal feature is a nice to have but I wouldnt buy it for that UNLESS you like the black tube aesthetic. Hey Matt, thanks for the reply. I was actually thinking of mounting them vertically but zip-tied to the poles to either side of the inside doors of my 4x4’ Gorilla tent as supplementary lighting to get Anthurium leaves to face forward. I was just curious is there was any advantage to these if you’re not using the base, sound like the length and wattage would make it interesting, less hassle than daisy chaining 2x T5s on either side but probably pretty similar to a 4’ T8, right?

@@theproppist for what you are thinking about doing I think youd be better off with the T8s for the price, and you would only need 1 per corner. and the way the face is they are angled slightly and i think it would achieve what you are thinking about, they are 4ft

I’ve thought of adding Barrina light not sure how it would work in carpet. I hope I can find the cooler light. Did you get it directly from Barrina? I found it on Amazon.

They sent it to me directly but many times they just use amazon to send it to me. I think it will work pretty well on carpet given the wide stance of the tripod. I dont have any carpet in my house so i cant test it. but i did borrow one to my aunt and hers is on carpet and I havent heard any complaints. hope this helps!

How far away would you recommend them from your plants? I've had one now for a few months, and while nothing has burnt, I'm not too sure if my plants are getting enough light. I'm not too good with PAR measuring and all that 😅

Mine are about 12 inches away, but im also hammering mine because im racing them lol. hard to say what is best because length of time the light is on and the plant you are lighting changes things, but I think you could probably go 24inches away and still get good results

@@TechplantChannel Thank you for the insight! :) I've also got it about 12 inches away. They're on for 15 hours a day. It's hard for me to tell, since the plant that it's primarily in front of is a Thai constellation, so I'll know how it feels in few months when it finally decides to give me a new leaf LOL.
