Mother is a Belgian company, and makes me proud to be a Belgian. This in itself is a feat, because us Belgians are probably one of the least chauvinistic people in Europe. Too bad I can't afford them. I use Sansi bulbs.

Thank you,thank you, thank you! I’ve been waiting for a video like this! I live in the south, New Orleans specifically, so this is something I didn’t realize I needed until now! My collection has now grown past the luxuries of window space! ❤❤

I'm with you on light colour! I suppose if the light was out of sight in a grow tent or a garage set up for veggies I wouldn't care as much but I definitely buy the brightest full spectrum I can afford. I have several sets similar to your silver clip on ones but they're black, and have 3, 30cm bar lights that can be adjusted for brightness and a timer, I love them. A totally non planty topic... Many years ago I spent 6 weeks in Ireland and England over winter. When I came home everyone thought I was sick because I was so pale 🤣 after just 6 weeks of your winter sun! Never mind, I loved it, people were wonderful, saw squirrels for the first time lol it was a great holiday!

Yeah I'm sure people use those pink lights for a reason but I don't feel like living in a club environment full time 😂 Yeah it's just soooo dark/grey here. Lovely but not enough sun for me!

I guess it is a terrible gimmick. Because every set of those lights I got from various manufactureres all die the same way in a year or two. Meanwhile the amazon ones she has will last her years off the same bulbs. Those skinny tubed colored ones don't get nearly as bright. and start blinking after a while forcing you to lower the intensity even more. or bulbs eventually totally die. and there is no consistency in the lighting among them. The intensity fades over time as well quite noticeable. But You can pretty much buy any of those lights she has from any manufacturer with those same bulbs in her video and it will be exactly the same in my experience. I got 6 sets all form different manufactuers. some lasting 6 years now and no fade in intensity.

I should have watched first! I bought the Pianta light today, i could have gotten a better discount 😅 It's useful to know about the light strength. I got a ruffled fan palm that is not enjoying the dim light of my house so this light sounds like it'll solve that issue.

those little square white rectangle ones are my favs. I mean just off those lights alone I got a 4 ft tall bushy parlor palm I never open the shades for. and 4 ft tall bushy mammy and petra crotons in poor lighted rooms. each with one set that comes with the two lights clipped on a desk or window sill. growing for 6 years off the same lights. I have a bunch of those sets from a couple different manufacturers. Bozily and Relassy are two others. in fact I remember one of them sent me a prototype when I started complaining about the clip on one wearing out. now they have vice screw clamps which is much better imo. The newer ones have the timers and dim settings. hopefully that hasn't ruined them hahah. You are right for staying away from those colored long round skinny tube ones. none of them lasted morre than a year for me. they start blinking forcing you to lower the intensity or bulbs totally die. And they aren't nearly as bright to begin with at the start. I have my lights on 12 hours a day.

One thing to note is many household lamps (usually rated max 7-15w) do not offer a high enough watt rating to take the Pianta 18w bulbs.

Best light comparison I have viewed. Most are so biased just promoting the one that the recieved free for that purpose. You might have also mentioned that the flourescent lights also give off heat which can be an issue in a confined space. I have different types in my house also. Alot of mine are in main living areas of my house so asethetics are very important. I do like the new sansii clip on light which attaches to the pot. It is inexpensive and can be purchased in 2 different wattages. I like lights that come in either black or white to match shelving etc. Most of my lights could be stronger, but getting nice looking ones that are also strong seems to be an issue.... and then there is the cost, which is just over the top.

I just had to buy new grow lights as my own gooseneck grow lights are fading/ flickering. I'd be surprised if they last til the summer, but now I may try just replacing the bulbs with my Sansi bulbs when they die.

Be sure to check the wattage capacity of the base you are putting the bulbs in. If you exceed the wattage of the fixture you can damage the bulbs or worse cause a fire.@@GoodGrowing

it is very interesting, that the most expensive Growlights are not as strong as one of the cheapest. Even the LED Bar you can buy at Mother is cheaper than the growlight itself. Idk if aesthetics should be this expensive (If you are able to buy it than do, but as always social media tells us all to do what otehrs do...). I see it in a very critical perspective. Nick Alexander made a great video about die hoax of "Growlights". The most important measurment for vegetatice growth is by the way Kelvin. Its good when it is over 5000. So mostly neutral white light is producing the most effective growconditions
@GoodGrowing
@GoodGrowing 6 ай бұрын
Of course if you're just buying the LED bar it would be cheaper than buying the entire housing & cables etc that come when you get a full grow light. I do think what you get depends on the goals you have though 🤷‍♀️

6500k imo. the higher the better. don't go lower than 5000k though. most room lights are like 3000k. just my noob anecdotal experience though. no idea what the amazon lights she has are, but they are best money can buy imo. nowadays they have screw on vice clamps, and the very latest ones have the timers and dim settings. But I would opt for ones without that if you can. And ignore the long skinny tube lights, not because of the annoying color, but They don't last and don't get bright. I've grown huge plants in dark rooms and the ones she has from various manufactures are consistent among them and lasted for 6 years with no fading.

those little white rectangle amazon clip on lights she has. I've had for 6 years literally growing big plants in dark rooms lol. various manufactures on various plants. 5ft tall and wide parlor palm that I never even open the shades for. Which is literally smothering the two bulbs on a window sill but still growing like crazy which is wild. eventually will hit my ceiling. the lights are literally just standing straight up at this point. a 4 ft tall and bushy mammy croton. and a very bushy and full petra which is now starting to outgrow the lights. I think the Petra one is almost 5 ft tall now and I have the lights clipped on a desk its sitting next to on the floor and I'm literally having the bush them back as the croton reaches for it. I use to spind the plant 180 degress but its branched too much now. I have to figure something out, but the intensity of the two bulbs is actually fine man. You can get these lights for $20, don't believe the hype. haven't even faded in 6 years. I do bring my crotons out for the summer months july 1 to september 1. but when I bring them in they drop alot of bottom leaves, but grow new ones throughout the year off the lights lmao. I wish there was a way I could extend the lights taller.
