Got that season 1 vibe where Barry risked his life trying to match the output of the field instead of knocking the guy out with the remote. Maybe I'm wrong, I never watched the full episode, but the villain here just seems like a normal guy that made a machine that does bad things. What is stopping Barry from quickly using his speed to knock him out

@@ivanvenne So the machine makes people older, somehow- and gives the youngness to the user of the machine. Barry was biologically well into his 70s by that moment and if he used his speed again he could die, and using his speed to KO the guy would’ve done nothing as it was about to go off- so he prioritized trying to stop the machine instead of die because he KO’d the guy

Stopping time requires travelling at lightspeed, barry did this in s5 but it wasn't made canon , in s6 barry went 1/80th lightspeed, but now he went at lightspeed IN show

Yea. Cisco left last season and Caitlin didn’t appear until the end of this episode. I miss the og trio, but to be fair, S8 has done a good job at establish the new characters like Chester and Alegra and this episode really eliminated that feeling of them being new/unfamiliar or out of place. It really feels like a new era now.

Barry practically had a strong will to live so he practically tapped further into the speed force at that point further than he had before and when he went much faster all that speed force lightning trailing off got attracted to the machine and overloaded it. Amazing how that was done.

@@nogamingz2785 a time wraith seems to be a Speed Force construct, similar to how Barry and Thawne made their swords and shields. Except the construct is so well focused, it looks real. Similar thing happens in the comics when both Wallys make their own suits out of Speed Force energy.

I think Barry just went through a refresh, cycling through all the gamma energy left in his body by counteracting it with his own until it ran out, pushing his cells harder than ever to use the speedforce. Essentially to get faster barry needs an energy load to push through, like with the electric guy in season 1.

I believe all of the characters increased screentime is due of the missing of Ralph in the script, like imagine in one scene, Ralph has a pep talk with Barry, but now he's gone, they replace him with Cecile, and etc...

Anyone else get massive vibes/flashbacks to s1ep16 when Barry stops a tsunami. In both the episodes he screams and like if you listen to both the screams at the same time in the episodes they sound pretty much the same, if not identical! Difference is he isn’t creating a wind wall this time, he is creating a vacuum and the music and intensity isn’t as good as the first season! Whatever music and however they did the camera intensity in season 1 of when flash stops the tsunami was elite And I feel like they should’ve used that same thing in this scene
