I'd love a remake of this game though, using actial artwork from the show as sprites Etc. and balance out the gameplay somewhat.

I had to stop, give you a like and give you a compliment for having the patience to legitimately cover every single version of this game including capturing footage, many of which I didn't even know existed like the computer ports. This game was very popular back then so because I'm a fan of the show plus that peer pressure from classmates I gave into trying the games. I rented the NES version first but even though I had a hard time I grabbed the Genesis version thinking it would fix all the problems of the NES yet somehow they made it worse lol. If you're really that curious and motivated to try all the early Simpsons games then I just subscribed because I have GOT to see this. There's so much more I want to say but I'll chill so there's no spoilers and you can continue to give open, honest takes. Really good stuff! 😎

Having played the Spectrum port a bit, I think you're being a bit rough on it. The different control scheme and non-scrolling screens feel a bit off at first, and the level layouts have been redesigned quite a bit, but once you get used to it it, you feel like you have much better control of Bart than in any of the other ports, and the more slower-paced gameplay works in the game's advantage. There's the occasional issue - those two aliens right next to each other on level 1 that you get hit by in the video are ridiculously difficult to avoid - but it's very playable overall. Aside from that one jump, level 1 isn't that difficult overall once you get the gameplay style down. I'd say it's one of the best ports.
