Besides the crank and cam dots lined up, wouldn't you need to have the #1 cylinder at TDC on the power stroke, that being both intake/exhaust valves closed with those dot alignments as well ?

when you talk about spinning the cam at the end is that not a cause of concern for? Unless the one you're working on has non interfering valves, don't you risk the having valves make contact with the top of the piston? Great video thank you

Do you even have to time the ignition on a car with a crank sensor?

So what happens when your timing chain breaks? Can you theoretically (as long as nothing else is damaged) just line the sprockets back up then reattach the chain?

Yup, usually something else is broken, depends on the engine, older volvos are great, had a 2.3 single cams belt come off, aligned the sprocket ,put the belt back on and everything was mint. Also had a 2011 X5, chain broke, luckily only the parts on the head were broken. Really depends on the engine
