Ngl, Jazz singlehandedly is the reason I became a Marlins fan. No lie, dead serious. I was just getting back into baseball a few years ago and Jazz was so cool to me. The highlights, the celebrations, the swag, all of it just spoke to me. Watching Jazz play makes me fall more and more in love with the game of baseball every single day. Hope we can build a team good enough with him in it that we can be competitive some day.

Thank you for holding Miguel Rojas accountable for being two faced. Those veteran players were for sure jealous. I can't help to feel like this video was a swing and miss. And the disparity in the comments section is wild. Here's my take on the situation from an unbiased perspective I neither like or dislike jazz. In the terms of being a "star on the field,"he is not. Aside from a 1/3 of a season in 2022 his production according to OPS+ is slightly above average to average, sometimes even tipping towards below average. His offensive production last year was almost the same as Thairo Estrada's, is Estrada a star? Absolutely not. But he is useful. If you define "star" more in terms of name recognition than there is an argument to be made. Now, I've seen some in the comment section people saying "if he isn't a great player was he on the cover of a video game?" He is on the cover of the show because of his name and image, Mlb is trying to reach out to younger audiences and so they think putting someone with goofy hair, gold chains, and overall "loud" personality will bring more attention to Major league baseball. MLB wants to seem like it's hip and keeping up with the times so to speak. Now, I think it's a mistake to completely discredit the large number of Marlins teammates that allegedly had a problem with Jazz, think about it, there is players all throughout the league that play with the same energy and "swag" that Jazz plays with, and you don't see anybody on their team have a problem with them, at least not to this extent. Personally I think that there is more to the clubhouse issue than wearing tacky cleats and pimping home runs because that is so rampant in baseball these days and there is nothing wrong with that. The point is Jazz does play with a lot of intensity and energy and if that's bringing new fans to the game I think that's a good thing. However, it's a stretch to call him a superstar if we are just looking at his production thus far and I don't necessarily believe that the hate he has received from teammates is only based on his appearance and the way he plays.

As "entertaining" as he may be. I don't think being an average to below average MLB player will translate to any long-term or meaningful success/accolades. In 4 seasons, the guy has only played more than 100 games ONCE. That coupled with a career .244 BA and averaging less than 20 HR and 20 SB per season is mediocre at best. I'm glad the guy has fun. But just being flashy doesn't get you anywhere without SUBSTANCE aka the on-field production to back it up. Just ask Nyjer Morgan how that works out. Getting out of Miami may help his numbers some, but I don't think that would have a tremendously meaningful impact either. He's just an average player who has fun playing the game. And that's ok too. I'd rather see guys have fun than taking a kids game so seriously. I just wouldn't ever expect to see him in the HOF

Even if he's "overrated" and whatnot, unwritten rules are stupid and obsolete... I've always believed that they were created when we, as men, were expected to be stoic and unflinching, without showing any emotion, and it just shows in how poor emotional control baseball players tend to have. See a guy celebrating? Nuke him on his next at-bat. That guy hit a homer and stared at it? Aim for his head during his next at-bat. A guy looked at you in a way you didn't like? Benches clear.

If you want to get traditional his best single season average is .254! He is a very average mlb player who is way too cocky…. It was also not cool he hit a ball that tore Acuna’s Achilles and instead of caring about a guy crying in pain he was laughing and smiling because he just hit a little league homerun. Being a marlins fan. Dude is a terrible hitter. He focus more on his style than the game itself. Wish he would just put the ball in play and let his speed take over but he rather swing out of his shoes

I still don’t understand why he’s labeled as a star. His on the field performances haven’t justified those claims and so many of the stories about him and comments he’s made come across as immature and entitled. Definitely felt like a biased video but then again if you’re a fan of the dude I kinda get that

I do think that Jazz has untapped potential as a player. The problem is, so long as he remains a Marlin, he will never realize that potential. I can't wait for him to be traded to the Dodgers or Red Sox for magic beans when Miami inevitably triggers the firesale button in the offseason (or trade deadline) this year.

I feel like this comment section is putting so much stock in the word "Star". Yall do realized in order to even be an everyday player in a major league sport you need to be a "star" player. Mike isnt saying Jazz is the best Cf or even elite and top of the grade, Just that his charisma and style has made his Starpower shine brighter and how thats good even tho alot of old heads (and the comments) think its corny. If you actually are saying this video is overrating him than you dont have media literacy

One thing you will never see the best players at anything do - be it baseball, boxing, chess, whatever, is be a victim. Jazz wants to play the way he wants to play, I have no issue with that. I have an issue with him acting surprised by his teammates reactions. It wasn’t right to cut up his cleats but Rojas was right when he said Jazz had no right to take that shit outside. Either nut up and play well or stop acting like you play for the Jazz show featuring the Marlins. He was born with talent but he’s got a weak mind, he never succeed.
