Long time viewers of my channel and IG know how passionate I am about roller cups. I went as far to spend a lot of my own money developing some for myself as there weren't any commercial available. Well today that all changes. For the first time ever, there are some commercially available roller cups for us here in the US. The big question is, was it worth the wait?!

Cost is too high in my opinion and I would compare these to a Deadlift jack. While it is convenient, it’s highly unnecessary for most people in the home gym scene. My urge for new toys is also strong and, at times, does win.

A deadlift jack is a nice expense. Theirs not so much. $300 for a Ghost deadlift jack which is the same as a Titan or Rogue at 2-5x the price. Mine is a lifesaver. Especially when multiple people are deadlifting at the same time.

$300 to solve a problem 99% of lifters didn't even know they had until someone mentioned it. I've been lifting for 25+ years and honestly can't think of one time where I couldn't center the weight while using normal J-cups. This product shows how good we have it. I remember when home gyms were really crappy with concrete weight sets. Now we have such nice equipment available, we're making stuff up we don't really need. What a time to be alive!

Brandon, I frequently travel to the Anvil Gym where all of the ghost strong equipment is used and originated. All of their equipment is the best I have ever used or seen. Everything is rock solid and the finish is to the highest degree. Hopefully people get past the cost point and support this company. The equipment will be around longer than the lifters lifetime!

Thanks for the review! These are things that you don't think you need, but once you have them, you love them (kinda like a deadlift jack). I have a set from Connor & while not cheap (not $300 either), I never want to use regular J-hooks again. Only downside I have noticed & not sure if you've had these w/ the Ghost cups. The contact patch on the bar is slightly smaller & if you are loading/unloading too many plates on one side vs the other, the lighter side may raise up (if the bar isn't centered in the rack). Not that I make it a practice to do that, but sometimes it happens. I actually broke one of Connor's j-cups when the bar slammed back down (I was training w/ a couple younger guys & didnt realize they were loading too many plates on one side.). Anyway, he made me a new one & no problems since.
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 5 жыл бұрын
Completely agree on the first statement! As for the 2nd, I haven't seen that myself, but Connors are a lot better than the ones I was having made as he's pretty meticulous about drilling and measuring. Glad to hear he took care of you. I've been trying to push him to do more of these!

I will seriously consider purchasing these for my RML if they fix the loose fit to the rack issue you highlight at the end of the video. That would drive me crazy. How do you like the grove that essentially pulls the bar away from the edge? If you drive into the bar / rack to wedge it into your back do you feel the bar slide out of the roller groove?

I didn't have this issue yesterday during squatting, but I suppose it would also depends if you have lot of distance from where you rack to where you unrack (if that makes sense)

Rae Crowther used to offer these on their racks, years ago. Unfortunately, they only fit their racks and are not currently produced. The j-cup was constructed with a valley or "V" design which also returned the bar to the same position, each time. In my opinion, if you're misracking that poorly, each time, you need to work on both your precision & accuracy of your walkout or unrack when squatting/benching. If you can't adjust the bar to center it, why are you training to lifting weights. I'd rather buy a second bar (specialty bar specifically) to get even stronger as that's a better use of money. I can't wait to see how Rogue rips off Ghost. If it happens in 2020, well, I'll laugh.

300 for fancy jay cups. If you’re too finicky about where your bar placement is and you’re too lazy to shift the bar on your own and you need it to be easy for you chances are you shouldn’t be in a gym. Lol gear for the lazy and stupid

Never even heard of such a thing, nor do I think anyone truly needs these. Just roll the bar with your hands as you pull/push the bar in the rack. This guy is a joke
