I got a PR5000V2 this summer in large part because of the lat pull-down. The final decision was because it was roughly $1500 cheaper to my door and in less time with the delays Rogue had on the RM6 this summer. I also have the globe pull-up bar, and have been a fan but I think that’s just a personal preference. I find it easier to do hanging ab work than with a traditional bar. If you did want to have that flush front look, you could order an extra 41” cross member and then mount the “side-mount” globe. Overall, though I agree with the review and appreciate the openness about the rack and it’s shortcomings. I really enjoy the rack for my regular use, but have found some of the accessories to be not quite as high quality. The feedback on the jammer arms has convinced me to go with another brand if I ever decide to get a pair as well.
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 3 жыл бұрын
I think if I could do the pull up over again I'd get the arched one. Good call on that 41" crossmember. REP seems to do theirs like sorinex (which I get for ease of manufacturing) but I do like how Rogue specifically has top crossmembers that sit flush with the uprights, just a cleaner look IMO. Great rack though as all my gripes are likely things that no one else would ever care about lol.

An excellent video, as always from Brandon! As a French, and more globally a European, every time I see such a setup I am very jealous of the strength stuff available in the USA. In Europe, not only it is more expensive, but also the offer is VERY MUCH lower that the one you have in the US. People like you or Coop would become crazy is you had to cope with this 😭. In the upper segment, we solely have rogue (at 1.5/2x the price that the Americans pay, i.e. overpriced) or ATX (German company, more or less an equivalent of REP). I can't wait for REP to finally come to Europe! Happy lifting to all of you 💪

Excellent review. One thing I did for my belt squat attachment was to loosen up the bolts on the bottom crossmembers and the rear stabilizer. This allowed me to do two things; 1) to widen the distance between the uprights to have 41-1/4” + for the belt attachment to fit, and 2) to move the crossmembers up so the holes for both belt attachment and crossmember to align.

Right on! For me it's not so much the width, but the overall design. I get they wanted to incorporate the mountains, but it's not functional and some wheels or a top prop would have gone a long way.

The main reason I won’t ever get a Rep rack is they won’t let me build one and order it like Rogue does. Switched gears and am 100% going with a Rogue rack. These youtube videos and home gym websites (garage-gyms site has been invaluable!) are a godsend.

Nice review.. I had ordered mine a few weeks ago. Also, pulled the trigger on that Ares pulley system. 80" H x 30" D + 16" extension.. bought the front spotter arms and flip down spotter arms. I do agree that it's hard to order the rack when the colors you want are out of stock. I wanted the green uprights, but they were not available at the time I wanted to make the purchase. I settled for the metallic black. Which, I do like after seeing it in person. They do a great job at packaging. I bought Fray Fitness's Savage Storage rack. Their packaging sucks. Love what you've done with the REP (converting it to a half rack on INSTA). Agree, that I wish they were 3# vs 2.95X2.95. Great deal for what you get and most "single pin" attachments are gong to mesh up well. Thanks for the honest and detailed review. As you know I'm putting together a Sorinex at my workplace gym with Jammer Arms (Super heavy). How was your experience with the REP Arms? Hi Brandon. I am in the market for an upgrade to my budget power rack and am stuck trying to choose between the Rep 5000 and the Rogue RM3. I only do the basic compound lifts, squats, deadlifts, bench press, standing press, and barbell rows. I plan to purchase few if any attachments other than the stabilizing front feet that both companies offer. You have reviewed / owned both. If you had to choose, which one would you go with if the difference in price is not an issue. Also, your channel is one of the few subscriptions I have not cancelled since your reviews and other information are genuine and professional.
@BasementBrandon

So this probably won't help you much... but, if it were ME, I'd go with the Rogue set up. I personally find their ecosystem to just be better in general. However, for most people, given what you laid out, I'd say the REP would be the better choice as it's likely a few hundred cheaper.

Hey Brandon - One thing that I wish you had talked about and shown more of in the review is how it’s 41” inches wide vs rogues 43”. I take it that you mostly just used this rack for the attachments and didn’t squat and bench much in it? Seems like 41” inches is a superior width to 43” so you don’t have to worry about hitting the bar on the uprights and j cups. I wish Rogue would allow you to custom order 41” top crossmembers.

@BasementBrandon 3 жыл бұрын
TBH while that is a pro of this rack, it's also a con for me when it comes to bench. I'm a bit taller (6'4") with longer arms and when I bench I hit the safeties with my elbows. I actually prefer the wider rack.

Thank you for this very helpful and informative video. Three things I want to see concerns the lat tower attachment. 1) is how deep can the bench be pushed into the rack with the lat tower? 2) is can one lay on the bench and do lat rows? 3) is to do a lying row, can you pullstraight down or do you have to pull down and out/towards you? I'm 6'9" and I do antagonist supersets. So if I do a bench press I follow with a bench pull using the lat bar and tower if that makes sense. This is pretty critical for me. I know I can do other varieties to compensate but I find this streamlines transition time and keeps me working the same plane. Sorry for the book but I'm looking for specifics.

Rack Height- my basement ceiling measures 104", so would a 93" rack be too tall (I'm thinking pull-ups could be an issue)? Should I go with the 80" rack instead using the multi-grip attachment it would actually put the bar height at greater than 80". 2. Great review. Do you have a rough idea the area of space this took up and how much buffer you'd recommend for working around it? I'm guessing the back just needs enough space from the wall for plates. Anything else you would recommend keeping in mind when thinking about comfortably working with this as a 6-post?
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 3 жыл бұрын
The back here needed quite a bit due to the Lat pull down ad on and then you have to figure plates on there as well. The saving grace is that the front section being 30" still makes this roughly the size of a 6 post with 43" depth up front.

Great review! Assuming you used the lat pull down and lever arms equal amount, would you go Rep with the better lat pull down and inconvenience of the lever arms? Or would you get a Rogue with a Slinger and the better designed trolley arms? I am trying to decide between these two. The Rogue Slinger is a major concern to me. Another option I am considering is the Rogue with Trolley arms and the Surplus Strength lat and low pulleys. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 2 жыл бұрын
So you could adapt the Rogue arms to REP a lot easier than adapting REP to Rogue. The slinger sucks and I would never recommend it unless maybe someone was putting it on a rhino. The Surplus Strength UPS is loads better in that regard as it can literally be mounted anywhere. The downside there is you still have to figure out how you want to load it. The REP attachment is the best of the 3 in that regard as it's fixed, has weight horns/guide rods. If it were me I'd price out all the options and see what made most sense financially while also giving you what you want (if made in USA is important, etc)

Great review! My choices were this rack or the RM3 with Rogue as the ultimate choice. After hearing a lot of reviews from different people, it sounds like Rep is still behind on some quality control issues. It will be interesting to see what changes they make in the future.

I think it's still a lot closer than I would have imagined before using it myself.

Hi Brandon - can you tell me the total height of the PR5000+ the lat attachment from floor to the top of the pulley? I heard you mention the rack is actually 92" high, and I'm wondering how much ceiling clearance is needed. I think I'm cutting it close.
