Recently, I've been playing with my Mini-Z AWD MA-020 more. I've kept it in grip driving configuration, with gear differentials at both the front and rear. I wish it's possible to find these X-Power foam tires nowadays. I will show viewers how much fun they are in this video. As you will see, there's a lot of power sliding around. The standard Mini-Z gyro comes in handy. I've installed extra soft springs both in the front and rear. I find it more stable to change directions when traction is low.
Let's run this around the apartment. I always love the ease of operating a Mini-Z. Rechargeable NiMH AAA is not fiddly like lipo. Just turn it on and go. We can see the counter steering action due to the gyro. Also, MA-020 drivetrain is smooth. These X-Power foam tires, on this surface, generate less traction than rubber tires. My rough estimate is 50%.

As a result, the car slides around more. However, unlike running hard plastic drift tires, we have speed and nearly full control. With the gyro, it's possible to power out of a slide into a straight line very easily. The best property of foam tires is that they are quite resistant to losing traction due to dust and cat hairs. On the other hand, rubber tires really prefer to run on carpet, RCP, or pristinely clean hardwood surface.
While I was having a blast power sliding the car around, I decided to make this short video to show a different kind of driving experience with an MA-020. Most MA-020 today come pre-installed with drift tires and they never get changed. That's too bad. MA-020 can give us more by installing different types of tires. Here it's kind of like driving an Arrma Infraction, except this is tiny and indoor. I can do this all day.
