This is the first video to a NEW playlist I'm starting here on youtube that involves "everything polymer canes" From basic to advanced canes, leaf cane, also any techniques that are used for cane making (skinner blend for example) will go here. And unlike my other video series this will never come to a end as I'll always be doing something using polymer clay canes!!
A polymer clay cane is a image created using pieces of colored clay, usually formed into round shape, which is then reduced (or squeezed) into a smaller EXACT image. The larger the cane the more detailed the final image will be. Once done it can be sliced to get the same image over and over, which could be used for countless applications, jewelry, vases, and a vast range of art being just a few to mention..
A cane can be as simple as a single-color log or snake. For example: what if you wanted to put red circles all over a white covered glass vase? You could simply just roll out a snake of red the size you need and then slice it! That would make things a lot faster for you.. But they can be WAAAY more complex too!! I've seen canes with detailed images of nature scenery, faces, butterflies. You can even use already existing canes to form a new, more complex image/cane!
Needless to say I am actually excited about starting this playlist.. I'll have another new playlist coming soon too, "Jewelry", which some of the cane work involved will come from this playlist, cool eh?
I never been SO READY to start my next video as I am today... wait till you see this next cane I do... further more, wait till you see what I DO with it!!!
Please subscribe if you are not already. Leave me a comment and like this video because its helping me a lot... YOU guys are helping me a lot and I'm so thankful.. Love you guys ♥

Thank you so much for this video! I just started working with polymer clay about 2 months ago after seeing some beautiful sets of polymer clay covered crochet hooks! My first thought was, "Hey, I can do that"! Well as it turned out, NO, I could not! I just could not do a flower cane to save my soul! I am very proud to report your video helped me to finally accomplish it! I am forever in your debt! As far as I am concerned you totally ROCK!

You are such a great teacher ! I have watched so many tutorials on reducing canes but they always came out warped and distorted or I couldn't clearly understand the tutorial. This is so easy to understand and awesome !! I think I'll give canes another try after this. Another tip if your clay is a bit too sticky ... dust baby powder on your hands and your hands won't stick to it.

Thank you again very informative you explanation very clear it made me want to actually pull out three colors and begin to create. Its craftsmart from Michales, I thought I would start with my less expensive clay till I work my way through your videos. I chose Turquoise, Purple and white because thats what I have. I will allow my clay to rest and cool down as you suggested in your video as my hands change from hot to cold and back again. sounds strange but thats what happens when your having hot flashes. Thank you again. Lynn
