I practice this footwork at the grocery store. Just in case a self defense scenario comes up.

Do you have to stay on the balls of the your rear foot? And the front foot...I am a complete beginner...
@jaxjacksonvillemuaythai65163 жыл бұрын
So, it's ok for the front foot to be flat just don't go onto the heel. Most of the time we keep the back heel up so you can explode off it easier but there's times we shift the weight onto the back foot and make the front foot light in order to throw lead leg techniques or check with the lead leg more. I'll post a video showing the 3 main stances we use and why. Thanks

You should always be on the balls of your feet front and back.

This is wrong, I trainen in Ko Samui, Thailand, and you are supposed to stand more towards to opponent with both feet. Your back foot is only a little more back than your lead foot.

Hi Jimj we have a few different stances we utilize under different situations and these are the ones I was taught by my instructors -some of them multiple times stadium or world champions. Personally, after 33 years in martial arts I don’t believe anything is necessarily right or wrong - something’s work better for one person in certain situations whereas others work better for someone else in other situations - the only thing that’s truly wrong is being unconscious in the ring 😁🙏
@unlimited68842 жыл бұрын
It's wrong for your style, just like how some punches from jarate, chinese nartial arts etc are wrong if you judge it by boxing standards. This works for them so it work, it depends on what you feel best
