ROBOTIC LAPAROSCOPIC CHOLECYSTECTOMY FT. REY, CST.
Thank you Rey for showing students your basic set up for this case. We appreciate your tips and tricks! I'm sure we can all learn from each other. That's the beauty of seeing how others set up their back table. You can nit pick which areas you like best and incorporate it to your own set up. I've done that many times. I highly recommend it!
This robot is the XI so its far newer than the previous video I've shown a couple years back. Super easy and fast to drape. Will take a couple tries to get the hang of it. We have 2 of these robots and its a great addition to your resume if you pursue travel.
Thanks for your time.
Please comment or sub! I greatly appreciate it!
Goodluck!

That looks interesting. Never used one. Our hospital is very small and basic. We do laps, generals, ob and some podiatry. The city over takes our traumas and more complicated stuff. Cool stuff.

Where I go to school him touching the table by the sides and not on top would not fly! I can’t wait to get into a real hospital and go by their standards cause my school made me develop anxiety.

You would be extremely surprised what hospitals do that is nothing compare to school. Trust me. I go by hospital standards bec if I get in trouble, it's on their books. Not my school books. Cover yourself at all times.

@@SURGICALTECHGEEK oh yeah. I just got through with my practicum and failed with a 70% because I wore the wrong colored scrub pants and that I over scrubbed my hands plus forgot to greet the patient as well as called a Kelly a tonsil but I re-counted and got it all right. I was nervous and started off with my instruments instead of disposable. These were all petty things that shouldn’t have been included in my practicum. I didn’t contaminate tho so I got a second chance to re-do. Hopefully all goes well!

@@uldermuturi4543 you lost points because of wearing different colored scrubs???? What is that mean? Lol.

@@SURGICALTECHGEEK lol pretty much! It’s so dumb and ridiculous at the same time! Part of the big check off was contamination and calling it while it happens and of course I did. But wrong scrubs, was a bit too much. At lease I’ll remember on my 2nd chance hahaha

@@uldermuturi4543 lol honestly some facilities are very strict with scrubs but nothing like getting lost points because of it. Maybe for discipline? But I'm glad you got passed that and trust me, things are a little different in the real world. I wish u the best my friend and you got this no doubt.

Great vid. It would be helpful to also see you actively setting up (i.e.; dressing the robot)

So what type of instrument tray would you use? Laparoscopic?

Am I weird for finding this fascinating after having surgery? I had cholecystectomy 3 weeks ago and wonder about what was used for the procedure. I had the 4 suture laproscopic surgery. I'm SO greatful for relief from pain and so far can eat anything with no problems. Haven't eaten greasy food but my GI doctor said wait at least 4 weeks to let my system heal.

What kind of sutures are generally used for this case, does it depend on surgeon preference?

Yes. Surgeons preference.

why do you count napkins and the fred cap and bottle? It detaches but doesn’t really go inside or near the patient.

Random question. I’m interested in becoming a surgical technician; but I’m afraid of investing money and time into my degree if I get replaced by a robot. Do surgeons who use robots still utilize surgical techs/assistants?
@SURGICALTECHGEEK
@SURGICALTECHGEEK 2 жыл бұрын
You can't operate a robot without humans. Surgeon scrub to set up the ports then scrubs out to be unsterile and sit on the dashboard center to control the robot. The techs will then be assisting under the sterile field.

yeah dude, it's awesome for a variety of different service lines in a surgery unit. The davinci robot system is great but you still need a team to assist you with the set up, placement of trocar ports into the patient, swapping out instruments and assisting through trocars with laparoscopic instruments, etc... Some cases are robotic assisted as well where the case converts to either open or minimally invasive. A surge tech plays a vital role in the sterile team
