Hobbywing offers 4 main ESCs for 1/10 RCs. In this video I cover the basics... basic differences between the four main models hoping to help others make a choice regarding these ESCs.

Best video for choosing from the various ESC options/lines. It really helped explain the terminology that has been thrown around in forums, etc, but never thoroughly explained. More importantly, I think it's going to save me money by knowing what I don't need for my application. Thanks.

Good info. I am glad you went over "blinky". I am building a 4wd buggy and I need electronics. I have the 10bl 120 that I was using for my drift car but i might put it in the buggy for now with a 13.5t. I'll then upgrade/trade out for the Just Stock ESC. Any recommendations for a motor. I was thinking of running the Bandit or the Just stock motor. Any advice would help. Thank you.
@telecomandorc
@telecomandorc Ай бұрын
They are good motors, but is this a fixed timing class or open 13.5T? If it is open 13.5T and you can run any timing, I would look into a Hobbywing G4 or a Fantom RS. Both of there come out of the box with great rotors. Here is the link to the HW 13.5T: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jpiVlbSjsJzehYE.html If you go into my channel and type 13.5T I think I have done maybe 9 13.5T videos. Feel free to check them out.

Your videos are great! Right to the point. I'm upgrading the motor in my 1/10 Rival MT10 and trying to decide between the EZRUN Max10 140amp combo and the Quicrun BL10 120amp combo. What would you recommend? I don't want to have any overheating issues on 2s and 3s. I have an ezrun max6 combo in my kraton exb and it's great. Thanks!
@telecomandorc
@telecomandorc 6 ай бұрын
The EZRUN Mx10 is smoother. Temps will be about the same assuming the motors are about the same. I think the Quicrun motors go up to 3660. My EZRUN motor is a 3665. I have not gotten a change to do the video. Maybe this weekend. I have HWA38020345 in my 4-Tec 2.0.

@@telecomandorc I'll look out for the next video! Do you think putting an EZRUN mx10 is an overkill upgrade for a rival mt10? I picked up a brushed version on a really good deal and want to put in a good brushed system. I would get the same size, 3665/ 3200kv. Alternatively I could just get a quicrun 10bl 120 combo, but if the ezrun is worth the extra money for the performance, build, better for 4wd and durability I would go for that. Thanks!

@@pizzomedia7261 I think the HW on 2s is perfect. If you want a bit more, 3s would be good but breaking something is inevitable. I know BL are the greatest, but I still like brushed motors because they are smooth. But brushed motors do lose speed as the brushes wear down. You have to keep washing the motor and cleaning them. A Quicrun would work because they are geared lower in your mt410. You will not notice the cogging much.
@pizzomedia7261
@pizzomedia7261 6 ай бұрын
@@telecomandorc thanks for the response. I don't have an Tekno MT410. I have a TA Rival MT10 brushed version. I was just trying to decide between swapping the motor/esc with the HW max10 combo or the Quicrun 10BL combo. I'm leaning towards the Max10 because like you said it would be smother, just debating if such a good/motor esc combo like the max10 would be a waste to put in an RC like the MT10. Of course I would put it in an MT410 without question, but the Teckno is on another of quality. Maybe I'm overthinking it. I do know one thing I don't want any hot motor issues even on grass. Thoughts?
@telecomandorc
@telecomandorc 6 ай бұрын
@@pizzomedia7261 Sorry... MT410 was a typo. I meant MT10. On 2s it will be awesome. It will have power and run cool. It is really about price point. Set a budget and decide. If money is not an issue, I would get the 3665 and Max10. If not, Quicrun with 3660 motor.

Thanks for the video, I have a Hobbywing XR10 Justock G3 Sensored Brushless ESC. Running a 13.5 juststock motor. Can I use one of these juststock motors 10.5, 7.5, or 5.5 ? And it is a 1/5 scale motorbike.
@telecomandorc

You should be good with the 10.5... I do not think the esc can handle the 7.5 given the bike probably weighs closer to 2kg which is pretty high compared to a 1/10 TC.

Hi. Thanks for this great comparison! I'm currently searching for the right ESC for my Tamiya XV-01. It's just for bashing, nothing "official". I already narrowed it down to these two candidates: QuicRun 10BL120 and XeRun RX10 Justock. In case of the RX10 I could get my hands on the latest G3 or former G2.1(?) version which by the way does officially support 3S, but only has a 2A@6V BEC. I'm tending to the 10BL120 as a sensored setup and timings are new to me and I would like to be able play around with the timing (blinky mode is not needed). Is there anything else you think I should consider in my choice? Which one would you recommend? The Tamiya XV-01 has a limited space for the ESC. Could you do me a favor and measure the dimensions of the 10BL120 including the soldering contacts? The dimesions given on Hobbywing's website are inconsistent since they are the same for the 10BL60 and 10BL120 and they don't seam to include the soldering contacts. Do you know if the 10BL60's footprint only shorter or also narrower? Thanks in advance!

The 10BL120 have been my go to 1/10 Brushless speedos lately... I can't see myself buying any more expensive ones... We have Muchmore, Speed Passion, LRP, Reedy, Hobbywing XR10 Pro, Maclan, etc... and all new cars get 10BL120, or ones that die get replaced with 10BL120... theu will do anything I want , 2wd, 4wd, etc... we use them down to 6.5t in a couple 4wd , amd they rock... The ONLY downside is no blinky for spec races.... for that purpose I will be buying a couple Justock setups soon for a spec class of onroad... I kinda want an XV for ripping around the yard... hope you're having fun with it...
@isaiahfurrow7414
@isaiahfurrow7414 2 жыл бұрын
The 10bl120 works awesome in mod offroad racing as there's so much extra motor you don't really need any timing adjustments.... a 6.5 in a 4wd or an 8.5 in a 2wd is plenty fast... but it does give you a few useful and needed adjustments, brake strength and/or drag brake, punch, etc.. They're cheap and work well for us and a handful of others...and then you're not killing 200$ speedos beating them about in the dirt and sending them on huge jumps... HW sure has some great stuff out , I have some of theor brushed stuff, an XR10 Pro, a handful of 10BL120 speedos, and a couple XR8 SCT for 1/8 E-Buggy .... now to get more , including a couple Justock most likely... I'm trying to research the Justock setups for a specific blinky need that is coming to my area... and stumbled onto your video... thanks for the content... cheers

What class are you racing? ESC Hobbywing Justock G3S (HWA30112005) is all you need. Motor... It depends what class. Some places have "spec" set to 17.5T or 13.5T. I really like the Fantom Helix RS motors. Although, the 13.5T Hobbywing G4 is awesome too. I cannot really tell the difference between the Fantom Helix and the G4. This is one of my basic motor videos: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g51lirN22q7Lf6s.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fqeoa7lnuJi5fHU.html I have a few more too.

Well, I understand your point, but that is why one compares them. Your last point proves the point of the comparison. It is not to compare which is best overall. It is to see which is the best for a particular application such as your recomendation at the end of your post. I agree with the recomendation, which is what I essentially do in the video. 😎 Thefore, we are both onboard.
