(Armenian male here) I particularly found your point about the ordering another drink fascinating. In Armenian table manners, men actually are always expected to make sure that ladies (and/or younger men) sharing the table never have empty glasses, so if they see that its almost empty, they have to literally either take the glass and refill it without asking, or ask for them to pass it over (if seated out of reach) and do it. If they fail to do so, this is seen as "bad manners" or "poorly educated", "inexperienced" etc. So when I go out either with a girl or mixed crowd, I always check this and make sure I do it at all times lol

I am not familiar with relationship. I am 27 years old Asian Foreigner girl working in Japan. I have a crush on a Japanese senior who is same department with me. Then he replied "he has no romantic feelings for me" . Heart broke for two weeks :-( .... I admit that I moved a little rush. But I'm so irritated, you know... I was so embarrassed at that time but now I'm ok with that and decided to move on. (though still have feeling for him) Now he started to make me jealous with other girls and keep me a distance. Sometimes he avoided when our eyes meet. Sometimes he talk to me sweetly. When he saw me getting along with some guys he went with bad mood. So the Question is (In this situation) How do I understand this kind of Japaneses guy? What is he thinking? What am I supposed to do. Being persistent? There is no HOPE and Just move on? Plus once a Japanese guy reject a girl's confession, does it mean that they thought this relationship will never happen. Is it OVER? The thing about them being different in public vs private is SO TRUE. I have a Japanese boyfriend and when we're outside he's prim and proper and is quite shy to show affection. I'm pretty animated with my actions and he easily gets embarrassed when I laugh in public. But when we're in my place he's like a different person, acting playful and making jokes.

I'm from India, North East. Japanese has a very similar look like us (northeast.). That's why I really admired them (Japanese )

In my experience, if your a Japanese man and have a good command (It doesn't have to be perfect) of the English language, and can show you can be a leader of men if you haveto. (Its not about being an "alpha male" or being aggressive) you will do very well on the dating scene in Europe, Canada, and the USA among white women. This has happened to me time and time and time again. In Japan, Ive come to the realization that Western women who like Japanese men often get the difference between building and acting all backwards. Japanese culture is full of subtle things that Western women and men (including me, a Nisei) miss when they want to act, when they should be building. I don't know if this makes any sense.

Hi Santi. I’m an 25 yo Asian girl studying abroad. There’s a Japanese guy (he studied in us high school and university back to Japan) from our school that I really like from first sight. I messaged him on social media over winter break he replied nicely and reciprocally. However I only messaged him 2-3 times as I prefer to meet in person and didn’t want to disturb his break. In the new term, I ran into him a several times but I was quite shy as well. The good thing is that when I was trying to approach him I started to know people around him (mostly foreigners, there’s not much Japanese ppl in our school) and they are all quite nice to me. There was a night I talked with his social circle but only a few sentences to him cuz I was toooo shy. He hugged me when he had to go earlier (I noticed I’m the only person he hugged but probably I’m a new friend) He could socialise around people and is very charming (at least to me, that’s why he’s quite popular). I am mostly extrovert and popular but very shy, like a little girl, in front of him. We accidentally ran into each other again on the way to school, he hugged me. I kept talking to him on the way but he didn’t look into my eyes, at all. The next day I met him and his friends, I hugged him when I leave and he mentioned to have a coffee (as I owe him one). However as I texted him ask if he will be available he next day, he said he had an appointment but could make another day (but didn’t say when, so I just said sure). Then sometimes when we are in the same space, we don’t say hi, sometimes we hugged. It’s getting a bit strange. I don’t know if he likes me or hates me, or neither. I wanted to ask him for coffee again but worried that this will put pressure on him (as he didn’t say which day he will be available, I took it as a refusal. But it was him who brought it up). Now when we meet with people we can socialise nicely around, but I don’t know what he’s thinking about me. I watched through all your videos but don’t know what he is thinking. Sometimes I imagined myself being annoying always around him. I don’t mind that he doesn’t like me. However I only want to express my feelings to him when I know it’s not bothering him, as I don’t want to put any pressure on him. What should I do my dear Santi?

I enjoyed it! There’s someone I’m interested in but I’m trying hard not to scare him off right away. You know, I have this japanese guy as my online friend, he's a year older than me, we are learning each other's culture and language, we even bought each other's language dictionaries just the day before we met on the internet... But we don't even talk much. Of course he apologized that he has to study, and I get that japanese students are very hardworking, but sometimes I feel really ignored and that I just annoy him, and I can't even really say anything since we don't know each other for long and he will just say "sorry" and that he has a lot of work. Hi Santi... It's my first time to listen to your vlog radio. I got one question... If I told him " I think I miss you !" , will this scare him away. We meet at cafes for English conversation . In the beginning he said he liked me . But I noticed he doesn't reply to my messages quickly , it takes him a day to reply . Also, when I say goodnight, he doesnt say goodnight back.
