Love to hear Willie play. His solos are so melodic. You can hear the Django influence, even though he's not playing the same way Django did.

Thank you so much. I’ve always appreciated Willie Nelson’s style. He is truly one of a kind. The walk ups and walk downs are just the cherry on the frosting of what makes him great and unique as an artist. I’ve got a lot of work to do to catch up. Or maybe not. Willie is Willie, thank God. And then there’s each one of us. Thanks again. Peace ☮️

Just wanted to say THANKS ... I'm 61 years old and just started taking guitar lessens about 2 and a half months ago ... Willie's playing has always inspired me ... like so many of the great ones, Joe Walsh, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler and so many others ... it's been a lifetime dream of mine just to learn to play at all. I will never be great, or probably even very good, but I sure am enjoying the ride ... and this video made my day ... keep up the good work. Guys like you mean an awful lot to guys like me.

Thanks man! Willie is one of a kind for sure and a TRUE ORIGINAL. Welcome to the guitar player's club! Play what makes you happy. It's not about being good, or great....it's about getting joy out of it. You can't put a price on happiness. Be happy my friend!

Wow, us old farts rule! I started piano lessons at 63 and love every minute of it. Somehow I've ended up with two piano teachers - one who makes me toe the line and learn to read and gives me all of the formal stuff - and another who tries to teach me jazz by scribbling stuff on bits of paper, putting it in front of me and telling me to play it. I can't argue with either approach because they are both right and more importantly, both right for me.

I hear you my friend. The man is one of a kind and it doesn't matter if it's his voice or his guitar you hear first, you 100% know who it is within the very first note. That is just so rare and amazing. I hope we get to enjoy him a lot longer!

Hi my friend! Yeah, you get it for sure! Willie just makes me smile to hear him play. He tried the corporate look and style in the beginning and then he literally let his hair down and let his soul out and, it's been a rocky tax road for him, but all the rest has been pure gold!

Thank you so much Scott. I was born in 1971 and raised with race horses and on a race track and in every barn it was always country music and I'll never forget EVER the first time I heard Willie Nelson. Still to this day by far my favorite musician of all time. My mother loved the more conventional songs such as Crystal Gail and Tanya Tucker, Lorretta Lynn, Charlie Pride ect. and my dad was into the "Outlaws" I love all of it but Willie Nelson rules all for me and always hasThank you for putting this together. I will be buying your Willie CD too! You are such an amazing teacher - you CRUSH everyone else on KZfaq! Thanks for being the dude you are! It is very much appreciated. I feel like a kid on Christmas now that I've found your stuff on here! I just subscribed! Thanks again it's all amazing!

Scott, thanks, that was great. I have seen Willie at least 30 times since 1977. He is my HERO. my first time was at the Charlie Daniels volunteer Jam in Nashville. I was hooked. I heard Willie say that his favorite guitar player was Django Reinhardt, you can hear this in most of all his playing. Thanks my friend, Gary

I was a rocknroll guy as a teen but as a child I had a stack of 45s that encompassed the entirety of my dad and older siblings records from the 50's up through 1980 or so. As an adult I was given a copy of Stardust on CD. This was just after my brother died. I had heard Willie's radio hits but man that one was like pure jazz and the most gorgeous lines and lyrics. It really helped me open up my musical tastes amd got me through one of the hardest times in my life. It also opened the door for more country based acts like Drive By Truckers and the more alternative styles of country and southern rock. It was nice to learn I could actually sing rocknroll with my natural Western North Carolina Great Smokey Mountains accent and didn't have to wash it up to remove any sign of twang. Excellent video I am happy to be able to play those Angel walk ups now. Thanks.

Thanks , you can transmit the depth of Willy's playing. The more mature willy gets , seems like a fine wine , mellows , fewer notes , tons more feeling ! He goes places that defy music theory . I have watched him perform angels to close in front of ten of his peers , they are all silent , with huge smiles just shaking their heads. The one and only ... Willy . 🖖❤️🇺🇸

Thanks for the priceless sharing; I always regard Willie as one of the most honest players ever..never scripted but straight from the heart of a gifted master. He always seems to forget about rigid boundaries and just plays the music. Incidentally, that walk up off the E reminds me of the walk up bass riff in "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" but with feeling. Thanks again!

You have a beautiful spirit to take the time to show us something that would, not only give us playing the "Willie Style", but also the other Willie Nelson fans sitting around the campfire listening to me. Also thank you for saving my neck in Texas by emphasizing the correct technique to play a Willie Nelson song. My favorite song is "She is Gone", it would be a blessing if you could teach us po' folks the song if you would be so kind. May God continue to bless you always....

Thank you, thank you! I've been a Willie fan for 50 years. I even bought a nylon string, so I could capture his sound. Equipment, technique, and soul all have to be there, but as you implied, equipment is the least important (beyond a certain point). Thanks for the technique. I may not have Willie's soul, but now I have something to work on the rest of my life.

You confirmed something I've been telling people for a long time now when you referenced his understanding of blues and jazz. When Willie takes a solo on that old guitar of his, you can almost bet the house on him either playing it as Mexican music or he will drop in a few little jazz licks. Just like Chet Atkins, Willie is a frustrated jazz player! The best part is though, it doesn't matter how he plays it, because what really matters is he can play...very, very well!

Scott, you are so right about Willie. Just because he doesn't play an electric with a marshall stack don't mean he can't play. You just have to listen a little closer and his chops are as good as any. I've always loved his vocals as well.

That is for sure! A man who's guitar has always been such an amazing part of his entire being. We're lucky to have been alive during his lifetime to experience someone who will often change a song every single time he plays it live. I love that kind of creative performing. Anyone can play their 3 chord hit song the same every night for their whole life, but Willie breathes a new life and soul into everything he does on a daily basis. Simply an awesome way to do things and true freedom in your music. Willie is a national treasure for sure.

I love to feel music in the pit of my stomach and Willie has that magic . And I just love the man for all that he is . True . Most of the good musicians are getting old now and I dont see so many fresh blood coming in . Then again maybe my ears are not as on the ground as they should be to hear the new stuff .
