@@seizedcarcass8440 Not at all :) I find it quite easy. I rotted mine, but due to underwatering. It doesn't want too much water, but of course, don't go overboard. Check her once a week. She likes plenty of light. She blooms almost right away :)

Hoya yvesrocheri... The misery of a plant loses its leaves as soon as I think or look at the plant.. :-) I have a hoya yvesrocheri with about 5-6 nodes. I rooted it (took forever!), along the way it lost some leaves and looked like something out of a horror movie. So, now it's time for a number of one-node cuttings, to eventually get a pot that looks like a romantic movie, instead of a horror movie.. :D Wishfull thinking. Thanks for a great Hoya channel!

@@BasiePlants it's crazy right!! But I am disadvantaged because Western Australia is a "quarantine state" and its very difficult and costly to get plants in from other states. Plant nurseries here don't bother stocking anything much except carnosa and pubicalyx, so we are limited to buying from private sellers. But as long as I get to see your pretty hoyas I guess I can manage 🥰

Hello Miro. I have a question for you, maybe a suggestion for a separate video, or if you are planning a Q&A video. In several of your videos, you were mentioning your excel file, I suppose one that you keep track of your really impressive collection. I was wondering if you would be willing to share with us how your excel looks like, what data you keep track of, if you do it for every single plant, or for every species, and how do you do that. Thank you.

Hi Miro, no Hoyas do not look like bay leaves at all! Like that H. spartioides is truly amazing…how much photosynthesis can it make via only peduncles?! I have to now go look it up. And I loved the H. sulawesiana, those long burgundy leaves, hortlust for sure. But the most unusual one ( in my opinion) you have you did not show. I can’t remember it’s name, It is in your grow tent -it has larger brownish leaves with splotches, and the most unusual ruffling on the edges of the leaves. I love that one! Enjoyed this video very much 🤗🪴 Oh, I’m weary of expensive aroids. But I do still enjoy putting Taro bulbs in the garden for summer, they’re dirt cheap in Asian markets…and make nice houseplants! 🌱
@BasiePlants
@BasiePlants Жыл бұрын
I also wonder how much it can photosynthesize with peduncles. I guess it's not a heavy feeder xD But that is why I am reluctant to cut it and propagate it. Sometiems peduncles fall off when you propagate a cutting, and this is only peduncles and its life depends on them. Oh I think you might be thinking of Hoya undulata? :) She is pretty unique too!
@grannyplants1764
@grannyplants1764 Жыл бұрын
@@BasiePlants yes H. undulata! Thank you I see some info on the web abt H. spartiodes but nothing technical re photosynthesis… yet they grow …Fascinating! further investigation needed. My clone of Hoya burmanica from Vietnam has thicker, shorter and wider leaves :) And a different look - it grows like a bush, which I believe all clones of burmanica do. This can be nicely trellised :)

Oh White Knight is an absolute trash plant. The TC ones that made it around the Europe last year were awful. 0 variegation, always troublemakers. Perfect for compost though! I agree with all the other ones though :D

When I'm honest, I didn't like Hoyas, when I started to collect plants. Well well well, guess whose collection is now like 95% only Hoyas... oops. But let's be real. Hoyas are the best plants on earth 😍 PS.: and your videos are responsible for that 😂

Oh yes, I did not like hoyas 5 years ago either. Then I discovered more and more species and it is all downhill from that point xD But I won't apologize for hooking you on hoyas! :D
@mrazster
@mrazster Жыл бұрын
Well, there are upwards of 1000 or so, different species and cultivars, so of course some of them will look similar or even "the same". But there are also a lot of them with vast differences, as shown in the video. But using "similarity" as an excuse for not liking or shaming hoyas just shows the person or persons have absolutely no clue whatsoever. Also loving the "Hoya sp. Rindu Rafflesia" ...definitely added to my wishlist. Just need to find it somewhere where it's available. /The Swedish Hoya Noob

You can find it on Hoyapassion! I Just saw it the other day :D But I agree, only people who don't grow hoyas can say something like that. I think there is a lot of variety in every species, in aroids as well, but I just thought it would be a fun to show in a video how different they can be :D

really interesting and top of my wishlist currently: retrorsa (have heard horror stories so be warned). There's also a scortechinii (aff.?) with which flowers have a dark pink corolla. people can say all they want bout hoyas, they're my faves (except maybe kerrii) and that's that ;)

I refuse to listen to horror stories! XD I will not be dissuaded! :D But I think getting a slightly larger cutting than I usually do will probably be helpful. I too want aff. scortechinii! The plant in my patreon shoutout is Hoya scortechinii (sp.SR2008-022). I agree with kerrii. And let me also add australis 'Lisa'. And imbricata. The rest are fine. xD
