I fish Mohave and Havasu, both with water clarity exceeding 30ft. Throw in wildly fluctuating water levels , the seasonal changes and forage. The Bite is often tight and very tough. So, these discussions are important as many of the other commenters have said. Stay safe !

Clarity, Temp, and Levels... it's like the true language a fish uses to speak to us. My dad would talk about it with me when fishing rivers and streams. To this day (60 years later) I still try to "read" the fish by those important factors, especially in Florida where we have the full gambit of water choices. This is great info. One of the first videos where you talked about clarity and the different weight on jigs to use depending on that water clarity has really improved my flipping and pitching game and I have a lot more confidence and making quicker decisions on what to use based on the water clarity. Hey Randy, I want to thank your for all the videos, i don't even have a bass boat anymore and have not bass fished in 5 years but I'm addicted to your daily videos. I'm now in the market for a 2021 Skeeter and i'll be using all yours and Jonnys tips to be even better when i get back at it. I fish in the northeast-Maine-and many of the southern shad tactics obviously don't work up here, but the fundamentals about water level and weather and so much more have helped me catch great fish this year so far. This year I have paid more close attention to Water visit Bility. And I’ve noticed more than ever, that you’re correct in saying that bass in certain times of the year like that off colored water. Can’t get a bite In clean water but as soon as I hit a spot of dirty water here we go. But obviously your tip today explains seasonal water clarity. And you simplified it.

Very helpful, just yesterday I was fishing in a gun clear bay. 3-4’ average depth with coon tail starting up. Took me a while to dial in a presentation but I finally did by moving to finesse. A 4#’er was the reward.

So true, I had a competition with my little brother last weekend. Fished a chained lake, one of the 3rd lakes which was dirtier. I put on a 3.8 ribbed paddletail swimbait, and he put on a slim paddletail swimbait. And I out fished him 10-0, even when he turned to his most confident baits. Anything with gold, darker in color or makes more disturbances will out fish subtle baits. Develop a game plan and mastering your core principals fishing style, what kind of lake, techniques, recent weather/water patterns, time of year can save you a lot of time by eliminating alot of dead water and putting more fish on the boat.

Fantastic, this is one area that I want to understand more. I struggle knowing how to read what the twins (water and weather) are telling me. Looking forward, can't wait. And BTW, I'm the opposite, i look for these type videos and pay less attention to the bait ones. Yeah, those things matter, but not like 'reading the tea leaves'. Tell ya what man im having trouble as a newb bass angler figuring out the smallies and spotties we got around here and right now with high clear 47 degree water i figure its only a matter of time before i run into a big girl looking for food. Wow there is a lot bundled into this topic.

Let’s talk about moon phases.. because water clarity temp and moon phase plays a big role for me fishing. For example when the water was 63 degrees and winds from the northwest and a waxing crescent moon and 5 foot of water clarity I was catching small mouth bass from 3 to 8 foot of water at the mouth of the creek where it meets Lake Ontario. On a powder whopper plopper, and Kietch swimbait as well as a white jerk bait. Color as well plays a big roles.

I appreciate your time, but, I would like to dial in to the season we’re in as opposed to talking wintertime in May, if that makes sense.it’s certainly post spawn here in Raleigh North Carolina ( May 19th) and we are about to get into summer heat and temps, and water levels are dropping due to 85* to 90* hot sunny days.. great stuff Randy so I’m hoping to learn more from you and every source I can. Such crucial details! Thanks for sharing! Possible idea for future topic if you would like - water without shad. I fish the Columbia River and it seems that none of these holding patters (even for current like TVA) ever prove true since we don't have schooling baitfish like shad.

Thanks for the great videos and extremely specific and helpful info. You talk about water clarity a lot. I know it might take some time and effort to put together, but I think it would be a huge help to many of us if you will put together a video showing what different water clarity looks like on actual water. If you use a polarizing filter over your camera lens it will help show the water like we see it when we are wearing polarized sunglasses also. I think we all get very dirty water and gin clear water, but when you start talking about 2’ visibility, 4-5’, etc. I know I personally don’t know how to judge that when looking at the water. If you will do this I believe it will help many of us understand a lot more about what you are saying when you mention water clarity as it relates to different techniques, colors selection, etc. Thanks again for sharing all this great info with us!

I enjoy all your subjects. I think a lot of people simply don't want to think deeper into subjects- they still have a novice mentality and are chasing the "magic bait" (or "magic modification") mind set. There is no magic bait or modification- just magic for that limited time, spot or water condition.

Algae blooms are the worst. When I was driving I learned a few things. Algae is a layer,maybe inches or up to 2ft deep. Under it the water can be gin clear or muddy. I try to find something that will run from 3ft to the bottom.I try the high side first & work deeper. The bites off but they can be caught.
