Like the term "coffee table" there is no such thing as a "bath cupboard" in furniture history, nevertheless, Norm finds one at a favorite antique store in Cambridge, Massachusetts. There he discovers how a clever craftsman took a charming antique cabinet door and built a cupboard around it using beautifully aged timbers and period hardware. Back in The New Yankee Workshop, Norm takes the concept one step further when he lines the cabinet with painted plywood shelves, adds a full-length dressing mirror to the interior of the door, and crowns it with some custom molding.

"If you build it, they will build.....with a measured drawing is available and materials list". It is pretty hilarious that when Norm talks about haggling - it's more for Ed to buy his copies. "Norm, I really don't need your copy, I have an original" "Yankee deal - $200 or that pine table" "No Norm...."

@@davidcole333 seems to me he kind of slowed down in the biscuits after a while when he realized it was overkill. However, I see he does use them on the molding, which seems an appropriate use.

Most projects took two days. Double episodes took four. He did have help with finishing and clean-up, but Norm did all the woodworking himself. You'll see at times he did work late into the night to stay on schedule. He was also filming This Old House on the other days so he had to keep moving 💪

Wanna know something, Russ, and Norm? We have a Williams and Hussey molder in our high school woodshop (the exact same model as Norm's), and it has been there for a long time in use. Oh and Norm, how many antique pine timbers have you saved in total for all of your projects that you've made in the shop yourself?

I don’t see the purpose of the plywood skin on the inside. I’d rather see the pine than that stuff
