Meanwhile in Australia, Transport Minister Catherine King has announced new cars sold from December 2025 - including four-wheel drives and utes - would be required to comply with European 'noxious emissions standards'. That will basically force manufacturers to dump petrol engines and switch to EV's or hybrid engines.

And two racing seats, with sheepskin covers in Dick Johnsons car.

Good job, the incident with the rock never should have happened, no wonder Dick Johnson was feeling pretty cut up about it but he managed to overcome the adversity and emerge over the years with three wins at Bathurst and five Australian Touring Car Championships.

@@velocityjet1884 I drive whatever I can afford, honestly. But it's mostly been Chevrolet products with a couple of Toyotas mixed in over the years.

123 Likes after ten years, that is terrible. This is Bathurst at its best and back then those camera cars completely blew me away. At the time if I had the $$ I would have bought a Celica on Monday.

I was 10 in 1977 when I started really loving the battle between Ford and Holden plus the era of absolute legands of racing i think by the The time they always had to say full name of CHRIS ECONOMAKI i think we lost 2hours off actual race footage 🤣🤣🤣🤣 cheers Stephen 🤠🐴🦘🐨

One - NO-ONE THREW THAT ROCK, just they didn't know it at the time. The spectator area there was simply a grass area sloping down to the track - and the rock was simply dislodged from the earth there, by people walking around. There is a concrete wall there now. So the commentators went mad - for nothing. two - Mike Raymond boasting how he was having such a great conversation with Peter Williamson as he was driving - WRONG, Peter couldn't hear what was said but Mike has few clues about anything much anyway.

No people were playing with the rock 2 men and someone accidentally kicked it and it went down

I'm more angry at Evan Green for the article about the 'supercars' which stopped the phase 4 GT HO

Yeah , Evan Green, typical media type 'all about hype .I remember hearing that Allan Moffat gave him the cold shoulder after that , I imagine others did the same.

Bollocks. Mike Raymond was a legend. Yes early comms came through Williamson because he saw the helicopter above and guessed on the broadcast so kept talking but eventually link with commentators was restored
@peter6516
@peter6516 10 ай бұрын
His crew could talk to him but he couldn't hear Mike Raymond. They were trying to fix the comms link so his producer kept telling Mike try now try now hence why you had Mike asking questions. He was hoping they'd fixed the issue and Williamson could hear him. In the end they had his team ask the question late in the link.

What was the power and weight of Peter Williamson Toyota Corolla in 1980 compared to 1979. I saw from this footage that he said it could do 140 mph in 1980 and rev to 8200 rpm. In the 1979 race he said he could do 136 mph down conrod straight. I also noticed him saying in this race that he braked at the 200 yards marker rather than 300 yards, so that shows it was good under the brakes.

1987. In response to the death of Mike Burgmann
@ianb4801
@ianb4801 2 ай бұрын
@@coopermagee8977 it was more than that. The tragic loss of Mike Bergmann was one of a list. Other big factor was the FAI set a maximum length of straights and Conrod was longer than that so to host internationally accredited race, that change had to be made. Mulsanne Straight, at Le Mans, was affected by the same rule.

Im guessing car 59 is the one brock hit. two laps later Johnson hits a rock at about the same point. Brocks seems a bit defensive about the rock when interviewed.

Johnson hits the rock about 200m before the oveturned car 59. How far did 59 travel before resting? Seems possible that car 59 and brock were navigating the rock before they collided, if it is indeed the car brock hit. Brock makes a great recovery. I think his greatest win. @@stephenterrilltraveller
