I researched the meaning of the dance: - "The repetitive sitting, standing, and shaking evokes davening in synagogue. The piles of thrown clothing suggest photographs from the Holocaust. The dancers toil through the choreography and their struggle could be read as a historical homage to the building of Israel." - "When Naharin decided to change the movement, one dancer, Erez Levy, did not hear the instructions and fell as before. His error was incorporated into the dance in the role of “the faller,” who sits at the end of the circle, falling to the floor at the end of each wave."

I saw this piece live in Israel in the show Anafaza and my jaw was dropped the entire time with tears streaming down my face. I have never had that reaction in a theatre and I am a theatre artist. It was transcendental. In the version I watched they stripped down to their bras and underwear and the "faller" was towards the end of the row, but was not the last dancer. The faller towards the end, but not at the end was more visually compelling and surprising for me and brought a new layer of meaning for me. This is such powerful art.

I was drawn here by the use of this music and dance in the film 7 DAYS IN ENTEBBE. I thought it was an absolutely brilliant integration of modern dance into another artform. I was literally in tears in the movie theater from the power that your dance brought to the film's finale, when the IDF rescues the hostages. Masterful work from everyone involved in creating the dance and from the filmmakers in working it into their production.

I'm so glad someone else was as moved as I was by this sequence. A lot of the reviews of the film criticized the intercutting of the dance with the raid, or even made fun of it, but I think true art needs to be daring like this, and if some people didn't understand it, and choose to respond by dismissing it, that's their loss. This was breathtaking filmmaking.

I watched this in Palast as the second act. I'm not a native german speaker. And it's first now when going down in the comments section that I realise it was in hebrew. Which is very interresting. This meant that most of the German audience would not know of the lyrics either. The entire play being a mystery When I sat and watched it. After having seen the narrative from the prior plays in "Arise", before act 2. I believed this to be a visual representation of the main character, having returned to conformity. Yet he is unable to follow the demands of conformity. The ones that obey and listen in the heavy transe. Making their sacrifices to whatever has them in a bind. Kinda like working overtime in a job that you feel is necessary to stay in So the main character is failing in becoming a part of the wheel. Forcing him to reflect. Which is a blessing in disguise. As he has to come to terms that he has to face reality of his ambitions. No matter the ups and downs.

if i´m not wrong, what he says at the very beggining is the following: ... [Hebrew:] "אשליה הכח וקף דק שמפריד בין שיגעון ושפיות הפאניקה שמאחורי הצחוק בדו קיום של עייפות ןאלגנטייות" [English translation:] "Illusion is the power and the thin stroke that separates madness and sanity. The panic behind laughter is a coexistence of fatigue and elegance" [Traducción en Español:] "La ilusión es el poder y el trazo fino que separa la locura y la cordura. El pánico detrás de la risa es una convivencia de fatiga y elegancia" [Phonetic Transcription:] "Ashlaia hakoaj vekaf dak shemafrid bein shigahon veshfiut. I took a choreography class my sophomore year of college, and this was one of the videos we studied as an example of how to play with building layers in choreography. When I first saw it, I thought it was neat, but not terribly relevant to the type of dance I was interested in. But the more I see, the more I absolutely fall in love with it, it's such a beautiful and complex piece.

I don't think you can really understand this piece without understanding the text - both the literal meaning and its cultural significance. Before the dance, Naharin adds freely: "The illusion of power And a fine line that separates Between madness and sanity The panic behind the laughter And co-existence of fatigue and elegance"

👆Absolutely mind blowing abstract dance performance by the Israeli people... this is one community species that will survive at the end... it has everything... religious spiritual abstract intelligence absolute guts balanced human consciousness... these guys are absolutely amazing... there is definitely something different with the Israeli people.. when everyone dies (total annihilation may happen in the distant future) these people have all the matter, material and means to survive. Amazing Israelis... 🤔

Saw this in 7 Days in Entebbe, my family and I viewed the fallen dancer (Sarah) as being the one to sacrifice him/herself, and we compared this to Yoni Netanyahu, the only Israeli soldier killed in the raid, we saw him as sacrificing himself to save the others! So powerful!
