While FDNY Battalion 9 was on a short visit at the quarters of engine company 8, ladder company 2 and battalion 8, a full-house alarm was sounded. Even if Bat 9 was not dispatched to that call, they made a good work by blocking the intersection which allowed the other units to respond faster. I have never seen theatre quite like when watching an FDNY response! I just LOVE IT. It's 'Look at mee! Get out of my way!' A blitz of flashing colour and gleaming trucks with the American flag flying proudly behind them as they wail and scream their way into the distance in such a noise it even makes me want to salute. It makes me oddly emotional and utterly in awe. They make it an ocassion, a spectacular assault on all the senses. They even wave at you. Brilliant. What an alive city. I miss it

Stayed at the Double tree Hotel on the corner, right near this fire station, went in for a visit got some lovely photos . There is a memorial to the 10 fireman who lost their lives on 9/11 R.I.P Regards from the UK. Thanks for posting.

Rather unusual, and pretty cool, how Battalion 9 has a siren very similar to the LAPD's - I wasn't expecting that.

BIG, BIG props to the FDNY for navigating the streets of NYC so effectively the way they do. Nowhere else in the United States do fireman have to drive and weave in and out of traffic like in New York City.

Same, except the manual. The PA300 is much better. When the FDNY puts newer trucks into service, they really should bring back the PA300.

@thecubssuck1234 That's the Electronic q. nyfd is authorized to use it at free will. The q that's rarely heard is the mechanical q, which can be heard on this video: "nyfd ladder 56 and battalion 7"

@jazzbutterworth ok, but the first ones drive leftside, the other one drives rightside one intersection later. so as a result they are driving for example north- and southbound!?!?!
