Why not use a Stihl gas mower? They are great. I have one in Virginia.

For residential homeowners looking to do it yourself, YES ABSOLUTELY battery is OK for small to medium yards. HOWEVER commercial is definitely not ready yet. Also, do your research where and how batteries are made so you understand how many batteries you'll need and how battery materials are made with rare earth minerals. Which is more labor intensive to put every component into 1 battery.

bought a battery powered kobolt 4 years ago, step dad had doubts. the ditch i use it for takes roughly 2 hrs to mow. battery lasts for an hr which just tells me its time for a water break. i have no regrets. best $300 i ever spent and i dont get resporatory issues like i did with gas power push mower

Ego makes a battery backpack system. However there is always the hybrid route with electric push mower, edger, weedeater, and leaf blower but still have a gas riding or stand on mower for the time being.

I have Echo landscaping tools. I do love them, but my backyard is heavy with weeds so in a week my back yard will be 6” or so. It’s a nightmare to cut with battery because batteries are NOT cheap and I’d need 3 to cut it all in one go. It’s probably just shy of half an acre. It’s a breeze on my front yard tho. Each 56V battery is about $250, but overall it saves me on buying gas for the entire life of my tools. A 21” mower, weed eater and blower cost me $600

How many years do the battery last before they are knackered and at what cost?

If you treat them right, I'm guessing 15 years. I have an electric car that has 12-year-old batteries, and a mobile phone that is 11 years old and they still work almost as they did when they were new.

@@jrgenaksnes2676 The average homeowner, these batteries will last 5 years and end up in a landfill. Not convinced they are good for the enviroment for the average person. For me, I love the quietness of battery, I keep my batteries at 30-50% when not in use and I'll recycle them in 15 years. I just don't see the average person doing that. I also drive an EV and don't mine charging, but the average person buy an EV charge keep it at 100%, it won't last long at all. LFP batteries are better for how the average person will use them. I also keep my batteries inside, this guy is probably storing in a hot garage which will cook the batteries

@@jrgenaksnes2676my dad’s Ryobi batteries last twelve years. However replacing batteries every 10 to 12 years plus electricity is still going to less than half the cost of gas, oil, filters, and spark plugs and the battery lawn tools themselves can last as long as you replace the bearings on the bldc motor every 10 years
