Imperial Prussian999 yeah it’s easily forgotten that the Grand Marshal of the Hospital charged against Richards instructions - forcing Richard to reinforce it or lose it

Arsuf's nature was the nature of being an ambush against a march and being a fan of reading military theory and philosophy as well as history... I would have to say the proper formation name is the legionary Sixth Formation by Vegetius(who Richard The Lionhearted often read) and applied): "The sixth formation is very good and almost like the second. It is used when the general cannot depend either on numbers or the courage of his troops. If made with judgement, not withstanding his inferiority, he has often a good chance for victory. As your line approaches the enemy, advance your right wing against their left and begin the attack with your best cavalry and infantry. At the same time keep the rest of the army at a great distance from the enemy's right, extended in a direct line like a javelin. Thus if you can surround their left and attack it in flank and rear, you must inevitably defeat them. It is impossible for the enemy to draw off reinforcements from their right or from their center to sustain their left in this emergency, since the remaining part of your army is extended at a greater distance from them in the form of the letter L. It is a formation often used in an action on a march." Although obviously, Richard's application is different than how it was originally supposed to be and so that is the genius.. yet it also proves Vegetius in an age which Vegetius was disliked for his infantry centered tactics which were difficult in an age where cavalry was commonly used due to the speed and certainty of winning under the condition of an enemy route. Vegetius was not as popular also because infantry cannot do the damage cavalry can and Richard is one of the earliest proofs of the greatness of Vegetius, the essentially western Sun Tzu

It was King Richard the LionHeart king of England at that battle no of lion. The French left the crusade early and forced the English to fight alone. Also Richard didn't capture Jerusalem becuase he didn't have enough men. He was constantly supplied as he marched down the coast and was supplied via Jaffa.

Amazing video. Thank you. This helped me a lot. I watched this video before I played the 2nd last mission of Assassin's Creed and it helped me get into the mood for the level. It also helped me understand what I was marching into, haha. Anyways, this video is awesome and because of it, I'll check out your other videos. :D

Invaders come to take jersuelam. Until this day they come and get beat and go home. Now they left zionist there... Maybe they got another 50 years until they get removed. Until the sons of saladin are alive no crusader will touch jersuelam.

Saladin apparently was trying to do two things at once. He was trying to fight avrunning battle of harassment, harrying the Crusader army as it moved along the coast. This allowed the crusaders to at least occasionally be resupplued by sea and spread out the Muslim forces. At Arsuf, Saladin tried to concentrate his superior numbers but did so in a very spread formation where thecwings coukd not support each other. When the crusader knights broke discipline and charged they actually achieved localized force superiority and the Muslim forced “broke and ran”. It seems that this became contagious in the face of the heavy cavalry of armored knights, and the knights pressed their advantage against the fleeing, often dismounted lighter cavalry. Richard quickly regained control of his knights and exploited the wavering discipline of the Muslim forces with additional charges against the now panicked Muslims leading to the lopsided casualties. Routed infantry and dismounted cavalry is the softest possible target for armored, semi-coordinated heavy cavalry. As forcwhat Saladin coukd have done…he could have maintained his harassmentcattacks on the lead elements of the crusader army while performing a double envelopment on the trailing elements with the bulk of his forces. This is very nearly what happened even with the dispersed Muslim forces. If 2/3 of the Muslim army had attacked the crusader rear from behind and both sides it would have been completely overwhelmed. Instead of a Muslim rout, IMHO, it would have been the distruction of Richard’s crusader force that survived as the legacy of Arsuf.

that what we call Monday morning quarterback, I too look at battles and say if they would have done this, the outcome would be difference, but battles are like a fog, cannot see everything.

Well then focus on before all of this happened because there is no doubt that every single country in the world was inveded for no reason and taken for granted, take the Irish for example ur people lived more than thousands of years under biritish control. Well, me the Abbasid Caliphate if u had a look at it started from Iraq and owned all the land from Spain to Kzakhstan and india. So basically Iraqis owned pretty much the entire middle east, which is more than any oppresors now aday would drm.
