It's amazing how the allies experienced great confusion when Napoleon arrived and some even thought of retreating even if they're numerically superior.. And the outnumbered French managed to hold, being inspired by the arrival of Napoleon. It's amazing how the presence of one man could make a great current

The subtitles are for people who don't understand the language. This is about expecting a better quality of sound. If people aren't told about this then they never know.

Agreed. The music has to go. It's counterproductive. Anachronistic with many style breaks. Immature. Boring, so very boring to not have the possibility to think on history while the nerves are attacked by audio emissions polluting the environment.

I think i am be the only one who actually likes the music combined with the nareation. Yeah some history channels put music from that time period, but this made it seem different and I actually enjoyed it. Great video! Despite all these people years ago disliking the music

Please lose the music. Not sure about the others but I personally want to hear you talk about the battle, not mute the video and read the subtitles on the top. Yeah, I could try to deal with the music but I rather not. These videos tend to be interesting and enjoyable for me but this one isn't either of those.

I hold my cup to you Napoleon, although you failed in the end, I esteem you in the same ranks as Caesar and Alexander.
@lintora8063
@lintora8063 10 жыл бұрын
Probably better than both, especially compared with Cassar. Caesar fought barbarians who couldn't even form proper ranks. Alexander had advantage of superior tactics and troops, plus he relied on his bravery to route Darius III. Napoleon on the other hand fought on even technology and tactics.

Lin Tora That's not fair. Although Caesar did fight barbarians, mainly Gauls. However, he did fight against other great generals (Pompeus Magnus) with similar technology while being outnumbered. (Battle of Pharsalus) He also defeated the Egyptians who weren't mere barbarians. Truth be told my favorite tactician was the Carthaginian Hannibal. His ability to envelop an army far bigger than his is amazing (Battle of Cannae), and his ability to use his diverse army of different styles of soldiers from among different nation peoples shows his leadership credentials.
@LootThisLootThat
@LootThisLootThat 10 жыл бұрын
Aaron Smith I see your point. However, I still think no tacticians can hold candles to Napoleon. He fought over 60 battles and that's unmatched by any tactician;. He said himself that his dominance in battlefield will be over in 6 years in 1806. If he had died in 1809 before Aspen-Esling battle, he would have had 100% winrate with over 30 battles at his hand. Khālid ibn al-Walīd also fought numerous battles undefeated, but many of his battle records are questionable.

Every time the Emperor Napoleon lost, it was due to his subordinates. Ney made poor choices at Waterloo with his careless cavalry charges and other mistakes. Vandamme's pursuit of the Allies after this Battle(Dresden) caused the battle of Leipzig to be lost. And of course Grouchy's errors certainly had changed the outcome of the battle. We were so close! Vive L'Empereur!

@EpaminondastheGreat

How is possible for your grandfather to have been Austrian (since you said he fought at Aspern-Essling which was French vs Austrians), Russian (since the battles of Smolensk and Borodino occurred between Napoleon's French army and the Russian army under Barclay de Tolly and Kutuzov respectively) and lastly British (or maybe Dutch or Prussian since at Waterloo the French army under Napoleon clashed with the Anglo-Allied Army under Wellington and the Prussian army under Marshal Blücher). Your grandfather seemed to have been a great adventurer.

Napoleon defeated the Allies at the battles of Lützen and Bautzen and the Congress of Prague took place. The Allies offered moderate terms on Napoleon but the latter refused and as a result the Autumn Campaign of 1813 occurred and led to the climatic battle of Dresden and eventually the decisive battle of Leipzig in which Napoleon was defeated. If he had accepted the terms of the Congress he would have saved many lives as well as his crown and his military reputation that the disaster at Leipzig badly damaged.

Not at all. Napoleon and everyone then and now knows that the Prag peace would have never been respected for long. The Allied never respected their talk. Amiens treaty was fast surrounded by the English which have paid ALL the coalitions against France. France did mostly defensive wars in which when you won when you're attacked, forcely, you obtained alot from the attackers. Prag treaty was to earn time to allies to bring all their troops in Germany for the decisive battle of Leipzig which was a strategic win for allied but a very poor one. Outnumbering greaatly the French, especially when some french allies switch side in the night. Napoleon was encircled at Leipzig, he had an alone job, inflict a big number of casualties to the allies and eventually, escape from the trap with his army... The battle of leipzig is then a tactival victory for the french because they inflicted twice more casualties to an enemy 2,5 times then 3 times superior to him (after defections) and because most of the army was saved, permitting the masterpiece of the Campaign of France 1814. France was exhausted by 25 years of civil war inside, and 20 years of war outside mostly because of England. would have england not financed the coalitions, there wouldn't have been the wars after 1802 amiens treaty. The fun of the thing is that despite 200+ years of anlo-sphere misinformations about Napoleon, trying to make him the ogre and the villain, the wars of this period, the Revolution and napoleonic wars when it should be the Kings and english wars. The invasion of both Spain and Russia has done only because England is the one whicch bothered the continent... I would recal that originally, the English almost democracy (at least the one which were the nearest to be considered as a democracy, USA excluded) fought a people which had decided to govern by his own and decided to help all other despotes of those times : King of Prussia, Russian Tsar, Austrian Emperor and many other lower kingdoms. English even paid and made manouevres that Murat and Bernadotte had to make war against their own people... But finally, Napoleon is an icon all around the world. and the Battle of leipzig which was felt in those time the end of Napoleon aura in Europe was in fact the beginning of the legend, because the battle of the 20 nations has waken up the europeans nations. italians remember Napoleon as the guy which fired the local Kings and the austrian dominator, it was sure completed by the intervention of the french under Napoleon IIIrd... but the feeling of a complete italy was born under Napoleon, and the ideals of the french revolution speaded all around Europe and that for long after the fall of the French. The reunification of the wesr germany (confederation du Rhin) originally a french idea done by Napoleon conducted in german minds in the raise of german Nation. etc... who remember William Pitt ? only historians... who remember Napoleon ? most of european countries and northern america... and I am pretty sure many in latin america and some in africa have heard about him... most of the modern democracies have adopted more or less the Napoleon Code from Portugal to Poland. Even England adopted his code of the property... the legations he let are absolutely incredible : masses de granit, the meeritocraty, the civil code, the code of porperty, the judicial system, the univerisies system, the military warfare (still learn nowadays and some precepts he invented still in use practically speaking). He may jhave lost of the field, but surely not in the minds !

use cannons and line infantry in same line, and when in range, use close combat ammunition(range 150) on cannons. Basically, infantry, cannon, infantry canon, infantry, cannon for front line. In back 1 or 2 mortars, and 2-3 howitzers(both shoot over heads), 2 units of grenadiers for backup, and 1 or 2 units of light hussars for chasing down demoralized troops. This tactic works always, i can t lose 20% of my man even when fighting against double my numbers.
