That’s really interesting. I wonder if maybe it has to do with the age of the bottles you have access to where you are. I’ve had not so good experiences with the green and the red, which are both highly touted in the beer world so if that’s true it could explain it. The blue has always been a pretty consistent experience for me and it’s the one I’ve had the most.

@@BeerBrackets It isn't an age problem. Export beers from belgium are always well within expiry dates because it is practically next door here. The problem simply is that most (not all) belgium brewers lack standards. This is not at all surprising from a country that still uses spontaneous fermentation or adds fruit and spices to "enhance" flavour, which is an euphemism for masking bad tastes. Of course there are some excellent belgian beers, but the notion that it is the best beer country is rubbish. The main ingredient of belgian beers often is "hype" not "hop"! There are many terrible and inconsistent brews from there. If you want consistency and craftsmanship Germany is much better. For historical reasons, Germany of course has less of a "special" beer culture, but if you want "special", most Dutch beers in that category rival the top belgian assortment with ease. Just with less hype!
