Totally new one to my eyes... It's kinda nice, that one still finds "new old" games, that one has not seen before :D

Fire Trap's an odd yet fun one. Wood Place was an enigma in the 80's arcade game world with these games. Most were derivative like this and then they made MFing Ring King

This was quite the surprise. I love Crazy Climber so if I would have ever discovered this one back then I would've spent a bevy of quarters/tokens on it. The C64 port really does look good. A real shame about the others two though. Especially the Amstrad one. They really phoned that one in.

I agree. The Amstrad version should have been so much better that it was.
@stevendobbins2826
@stevendobbins2826 19 күн бұрын
The Amstrad was both blessed and cured by how easy it was to port Spectrum games to it. On one hand it meant the machine still had lots of mainstream software support despite not selling as well as other micros, on the other hand a lot of those games didn't live up to even half their potential.

Well, this certainly is... something. For 1986 it looks (visuals) very good. But, what kind of laws of physics are in this world and what is really happening? Firefighter is literally fighting fire by... discharging, not water or extinguisher, but firearm (judging by the sound effect)!🤨 Also, from objects that is coming down onto our firefighter, it is obvious that the building's resident that they really don't want to be saved!😳

Interesting game, I'm also confused by this type of control. Also, when you need dual joysticks and a button, it makes it even harder for you to have proper similar arcade controls at home. I wonder if that saturn virtuaon twinstick on a mayflash adapter will work. I got one in Japan back in 2018, I guess that might emulate the arcade controls. And I guess there are a few other games on mame that have twin sticks plus buttons to use it if it works!

Was there any sort of quality control that games on the Amiga, ST, C64, Speccy and especially CPC needed to go through? The fact a game like the CPC port was allowed to release and be sold for profit is bonkers. I also hear a lot of these crappy arcade ports would use fake screenshots which is straight up false advertising. Obviously, laws to counter this type of stuff existed in the states, but it doesn't seem such a thing existed in Europe, at least not at the time. Were there ever laws passed on the quality control of games and what not, because it just blows my mind that Fire Trap on the freaking Amstrad CPC was allowed on store shelves and sold for real money.

100%. Even Joe from game sack at times is guilty of saying a game is from a publisher rather than it's developer. Magazines back in the day always did this which pissed me off. Especially when some turd publisher like Acclaim released a great game that they licensed or when Konami got all the praise for Assault Suit Valken (Cybernator) when they only published it in the West.

How many ports does the original Mega Man have? I think it's just the Famicom, Mega Drive in Wily Wars, PS1 in Rockman Complete Works, Java Mobile and the PSP remake, Mega Man Powered Up. There is an unofficial SNES port, but everything else, like the MS-DOS, Game Gear and Dr. Wily's Revenge on the Game Boy are rearrangements or different games entirely.
