This is the first scenario from the Frostgrave Perilous Dark book.

Pointing out some things, not necessarily for you but for other people watching this. Some specific notes on this scenario: * Vapour snakes are susceptible to magic, but if hit by certain spells catch fire. It's only missile weapons that they're mostly immune to. * After turn 2, vapour snakes that don't see anyone move directly toward the door of the level, not randomly * Ballista IIs don't move if they're within 6" of the door. If not, they move toward the door. Some tactical notes that might make it more likely for you to succeed in Frostgrave games: * If an enemy moves within 1" of one of your characters, you can engage it. With judicious positioning, that means that when a monster moves to attack one of your characters, some or all characters traveling with him can snap to contact simultaneously. Since each character beyond the first gives a +2, this means that even weak characters will be very hard to beat. Since _each_ character gets the bonus from all the others. So three thugs attacking one enemy can all attack at +6 and even a group of archers can be effective against reasonable creatures . This makes the large snakes much more reasonable to fight. * During the creature phase, each creature does its entire turn before the next creature does anything. This can allow characters to fight one (or add its bonuses, whichever), then snap to the next creature when it moves. * Note the penalties for being at or under 4 remaining hit points. * There are two ways to move a group of characters with a wiz/apprentice. You can use a "group activation", where all the characters have a move action followed (always followed, never preceded) by any other action for each after all the moving is done, which allows you to move to gang up on an enemy (among other things). You can also just use a multiple activation, where you activate multiple characters, but each completes his full two actions before the next character does anything. Which you use is a tactical choice and often really important. * Bleeding for spells can be really useful, even when the amount you bleed is seemingly excessive. This is even more true if you have Heal. Think really seriously about whether to bleed to succeed. Note that if you bleed to successfully cast a spell, you get the XP for the successful cast. NB: Depending on where you look, Perilous Dark says "On a 1-10 the spell immediately ends" _and_ "... spell ends on 11+". Obvious typo, and I think your choice to go with 'high ends spell' is more consistent with the regular rules.

i was going to mention what someone alerady said about moving in group activations. If you group activate with soliders you have to move them all first. then take 2nd actions in the order you want. This only mattered a couple times. I realize you are trying to play quickly and with a camera. So i know i would make some mistakes too. You did great though! It was still entertaining to watch. I just got my book today. Excited to try out the campaign. Good luck on the next one. Hope it comes out soon.

Just received my copy of the Perilous Dark some days ago. But as I still need some more miniatures (Ballistas and Vapour Snakes), I stumbled across your battle report. Nicely done! 1:02:08 But where do I find the link to the roster for scenario two?

I was going to get Frostgrave recently, and discovered a new edition is coming in June, I believe. The solo capability interests me, as well as having multiple players. I have heard the same from others about not being able to get past all the large snakes.

Yeah, Scenario 1 was insanely difficult, but I imagine there may be one or two schools of magic that might be more useful for defeating them. Yes, FG 2.0 is out later in the year, but the expansion books are supposed to still be supported.

Agreed, this is one of the most difficult scenarios to date. 2nd edition releases on August 20th, however, all 1st edition releases (with exception of core rulebook and spell cards) are confirmed to be compatible!

Thank you for making this video, you nerfed the snake moves so many times they had line of sight. But it is a hard scenario, no biggie.

I'm enjoying this and I'm about half way through but there's way to many ads (every two or three minutes) and I can't continue watching.

No large snakes?! They are suppose to be too strong. You gotta make a mad dash for that door. Not fight snakes.

Hey I thought the walls only vanishes at 17+ rolls, not 11+. Or did you apply any mods?
