One of the best scenes in video game history. The graphics, The music, The sound design. Everything just comes together. Out of this world.

1:28 They fact that they picked up almost every detail, even the rain drop sounds hitting his helmet when he puts it on, just shows how much they loved working on this game.

Every dev on future battlefield games should watch this once a day to keep direction. Absolute classic.

BF3 definitely deserves a remaster as long as it’s done right

I love the detail of audio becoming muffled once you don the helmet, Battlefield games used to have so much love and attention to detail put into them.

3:50 Is the moment when the game shines and the developers knew this. Until now, the take-off of an aircraft from an aircraft carrier has never been shown like this in a computer game.

I can’t forget how this mission got my jaw dropping. This was way ahead of its time.

5:39 cobra maneuver 🐍

I never noticed this before but at 3:22 as the pilot is pulling the left turn your characters vision greys out at the edges as he's pulling a High-G maneuver. That's really cool attention to detail

3:50 when the game does the music. Goosebumps every time. Blessed to be a part of this game when it was in its prime.

I cried and was in pure awe when I played this just now on my brand new first pc in 240fps & 2K, my previous gaming experience of this scene was with ps3 years ago so this experience was just absolutely stunning, this was so ahead of It's time.

Grew up with bf3 in my teens. Always played when I visited my dad both sp and mp. God knows how many times I've played this mission back then. It's what got me hooked on fighter jets and aviation as a whole. If it wasn't for this I wouldn't have gotten into warthunder air, vtol vr and soon to be dcs. I do not regret a single hour i spent on these games (maybe the money in wt....) It's a love that will never die ✈️🛩

Absolutely LOVE the little detail of the voice actors having labored breathing when fighting other pilots. Really goes to show how scared they really are knowing one good lock on could kill them.

That launch and fleet flyby sequence was without comparison in all of my video game experiences. No other game came close to this adrenaline rush this gave me. And it was really just watching it all happen really. The radio chatter, the feeling enclosed in the cramped canopy. Fighter pilots are some pretty hard core people. Mad respect.

just recently re-installed BF3 to play through the campaign (went straight online back in the day) this mission blew me away, not the most interactive but the attention to detail in the audio is awesome & the visuals on ultra @ 120hz are spectacular, especially when you consider the games age, dam just makes 2042 even more disappointing

This game is gorgeous even today. It’s wild I remember this like it was yesterday, and I got it on PS3. I thought it was amazing but seeing it like this now, even today gives me chills.

Wishing I could re-live the entire experience again, find it hard to believe that this was a decade ago, we were so young, this area of BF games was simply unique! Miss it with all my heart.

The sound design in this entire mission is so good that you can listen to this with your eyes closed and still know exactly what's going on.

First time I played this game, I was using a gtx 560 1gb non ti. Was able to get 60fps at 1080p ultra. Very well optimised. And still looks great today 👌

Wow! The quality is insane 😳 It looks even more realistic. The only downside is that you kept looking forward with aircraft behind so it doesn't really show the flare nor incoming missile animation 😞

This was my favorite mission in bf3, it’s so impressive to think about it was made in 10 years ago. As a kid I truly got shocked by how realistic its graphics are.

i am glad to play BF since 1942, bad company 2 and BF3. When i look at 2042, now i know that i enjoyed the glory of BF series with bunch of friends, the good old days

This mission was nuts. Honestly, every now and then a warzone match comes close to this feeling. The part that made it special to me was the communication. Felt like I actually had to get done what I was told vs just playing to laugh at something.

Gosh, when I was in high school, I played this when it came out my senior year. My dad was in the Navy and worked on several ships and carriers. I was so excited to show him this when I first saw it myself. He really and truly watched every second of this mission and was fully invested in the realism. My dad has passed away now, and I will always remember this mission and the memories it will always bring. Thanks, Battlefield 3. ❤

I have a video of this exact scene from when the game originally launched. I had just purchased the new GTX 680 with my entire paycheck and I was so hyped for this game. To this day still have the most hours in BF3 over any other.

Coming back to this it's still incredible. Here's the thing, I don't think gamers want an entire game to be this on-rails BUT some of the most memorable missions in modern gaming have been pretty scripted and on-rails and I think this is because it allows the devs to pump up the immersion factor so much and focus on little things like animations and specific sound design. The kind of things that are missed if the player is running around more freely. I am thinking of this mission from Battlefield 3, and also the Clean House mission from Modern Warfare. Both lack player agency, but are very well remembered because of the immersion and attention to detail. I think if most shooters had tight focused missions like these, they would be remembered a lot more.

DICE themselves know when they were at their best! The Battlefield community needs to petition for a remaster of the BF3 Campaign to PS5 and Series X standards.

I played this with 3d glasses on the tv, it is so immersive to feel the cockpit depth, how small it actually is, like you are on a backseat of a bike, with small scratches here and there. This would be awesome to play in 3d helmet with 4k and good headphones.

There's something about the bf3/bf4 art style, that grittiness. I wish we get more of this but just with higher quality/resolution textures.

Ah, the days when Dice made a good game. Still one of the best SP missions in any game! Ok it's on rails, and just a point and click at heart - but my god, seeing this for the first time on the PS3 was another world!!!

great game, great mission. though realistically i would probably rely more on my cannon than the missiles. pretty sure fighters like an F/A18 which i assume that was, usually only carry 4 - 6 missiles.
