Somebody mentioned in the comments some time ago that I hadn't posted sniping or I guess Recon class gameplay in a long time and yeah, they were right. Pretty sure I stopped playing the class because of the drag mechanic introduced in BF5 and DICE's refusal to put in an 8x scope even though BF3, BF4 and BF1 had it.
Not the best clips but some interesting ones and the rest will provide a good comparison after I put in some more time and hopefully I stop trying to make the class work in 90/100 ms/ping/latency...( slow muzzle velocities + drag mechanic + de-sync player models from higher than 50 ping = bad idea )

Play Breakthrough as Recon, the people that regularly play that game mode stand still a lot or don't move that much so it's easy mode for sniping and a good place to practice.

Velocity of the bullet slows down over distance. It's fine for a MilSim but Battlefield is one of the last remaining arcade shooters with somewhat long range fights and having bullet drop plus a ballistics model instead of hit-scan is enough to make things difficult or not so easy that every one is landing shots with ease across the map on moving targets. But no they had to add drag into is well so it basically makes all weapons feel inconsistent and for snipers really inconsistent at range when you are firing one bullet at a time very slowly. Inconsistent gunplay is not satisfying and that hurts the game's re-playability.

It's where the velocity of the bullet decreases over distance. So let's say a bullet shot from a sniper at the muzzle is traveling 100m/s by the time it's reached 500m it's traveling at 50m/s. This means that leading your target is allot more challenging as you've got to compensate for bullet drop and drag. In other games you might just have to compensate for drop which makes it a lot more consistent in way. I don't.see why he complains as I don't really see it as an issue. The lack of 8x and further scopes would help a lot for distance sniping.

It's not bad, I sometimes feel like the suppressed M1911 can fail pretty hard sometimes compared to it's predecessor in BF1.

Not possible, the glass is bullet proof. The instances where you see people claiming they have sniped people out of planes are actually shooting the pilots hitbox that is lagging outside of the plane so it comes down to lag and dumb luck.

It was hardly noticeable do to the high velocity, it was also lower in bf1

@@loganvv7455 That and the distances for fights were overall way shorter in BF1 maps. They made really pretty maps that were big but the playable area for infantry was tiny compared to any other Battlefield game.

@@imtrippedout I don't see added value to it being in Battlefield so logically I'd expect it to not be in the game however DICE doesn't follow logic nor do they make reasonable decisions/compromises so they'll probably keep it. Like they kept the terrible slide mechanic that does nothing but give people a way to basically bend their hitboxes to avoid damage and make third person animations an inconsistent mess.

@@asigmatism2276 People on the internet like to think people who were in Ronku or GameChanger program had influence on what things went into the game or changes made to the games but that is an absolute load of shit. Sure they'll take input but they do nothing with it but throw it in the garbage, since BF3 DICE has and continues to run under the "we make games we want to play not what the community wants to play" notion of game development. They'll only change things if it gets really strong or viral backlash.

Aesthetic reasons, it looks pretty, it's why I hate using the Krag and M95, they look so dumb with where their scopes or where they're mounted on the rifle. I mean the armory or "in-game store" even shows ( via skin/camo images ) they had at some point mounted the sight in a better looking place on the M95 but then moved it forward to I guess take up more screen space and make it look unbalanced.
