Amazing attention to detail in Post Scriptum: every 5th round in the Mg 34 and 42 is a tracer round. This is something that practically no one gets right.

Because the volume is different. Also Bf v sounds are more clear. The chicago typewriter (tommy gun) actually sounds like that.

Guys this is something you might want to know: This guy used the "War Tapes" in-game audio config for BFV which makes all the sounds have more echo(specially on explosions and tank shots) but makes all the weapons sound worse imo. The "3D headset" audio config makes all sounds more clear and satisfying(more like PS) but lacks of echo at farther distances which makes the game quieter in certain moments

BFV's sound design is too muted which the echoes overlap it, I prefer the more "meaty" sound design they had for BF1 e.g. the Chauchat is a very loud gun designed to sound more like artillery than anything else, but in BF its _way_ too muted PS's sounds have a touch metallic nature to them which I like as well as the reloads

@Bruzel Azcriarati A mile? That's was like 75 yards at best. There weren't any infantry anti-tank launchers during the war that could even accurately shoot anywhere near that far.

Post Scriptum only suffers from 2 problems: -Rifles having +1 rounds -Only having 1 standard tactical-reload for the Rifles (for example: Only 1 animation of adding 3 rounds into the K98 although you shot 1 round, and then the ammo counter goes up to 6-rounds)

The big difference is that Post Scriptum's weapons feel real with a hard hit when playing it while Battlefield 5 feels like nerfguns

@@enjoi9970 All BFV weapons sound like a bassy thud or boom, the guns in PS have sharp bang sounds that almost crack wich makes them much closer to the sounds of real guns

i hate the M1911 in BFV, it sounds like something is hitting on your glass window. In BF1, they make the pistol gunshot much more hard-hitting with great sound effects.

Post Scriptum definitely sounds better than BF5 The guns in BF5 all have a weird echo after the shots as well as sounding less powerful then PS. I would say that the guns also look better than BF5 as well. I also think that PS has a more realistic depiction of recoil then BF

The problem with the BFV sound is bc he chose the "War Tapes" audio config. The only good thing is that it adds more echo in general(specially on explosions and tank shots), but makes all weapons sound worse imo. The 3D headset audio config makes all sounds more clear and satisfying(more like PS)but lacks of echo and the environment feels like empty in certain moments

I've always felt like Battlefield 5's animation really looked off. Like the animations themselves are good, sure, but it feels incredibly unrealistic, like the weight of the movements almost feels cartoony at times.

Battlefield/DICE has always had that fast, herky-jerky animation style. Goes back at least as far as Battlefield 3. The animations are too fast to be able to properly convey weight, as well as not being animated in a way that conveys weight well.

@@s_for_short2400 Sure they can be slow. DoI, Insurgency. You just have to compensate for the reload time somewhere else. The issue is still the weighting, and it's where DICE's constant movement animation style hurts. The mag-outs and mag-ins are very exaggerated, giving the feeling that the gun itself doesn't have much weight to dampen the movement. Combine that with the distant/muted sounds and it takes some of the power away from the guns. I think another problem with the "power" of BF5's animations is that the visual recoil is constant and rather soft, rather than instant, as most firearms would be. Granted this might be a sacrifice for gameplay, just like the hilariously open sights, but it does harm the feeling.

Aby Nighteater thats because games today are trying to aim for realism but fun to play for all players and that’s why some animations are too quick and just kinda off. I’ve noticed PC games only look for realism and actually I love that. In my opinion the more realistic the game. The more fun. Apparently society is too scared to accept this kind of fun I guess. All I’m asking for is one console realistic game like Post Scriptum...

Crest Raizn there’s no need. The sound engine is such that you hear echoes from certain distances. You can locate people based entirely on the crack of their rifle.

It sucks because I really enjoyed bfv. I liked the movement, the fact that any class could heal so you don't have to rely on inattentive medics (who are only playing for the guns) and fortification was cool. I really liked the Pacific maps and felt there was a lot of potential but most of the fanbase never even gave it a chance and the devs didn't take the time to fix what needed fixing.

Okay Post Scriptum just goes to show animation, sound, and graphics are higher than I’ve ever witnessed. I loved the sound. Actually sounded like WWII weapons you hear in documentaries. And the animation of the guns to the smallest details and when the weapon actually recoils with your hand.. than it just jolting back and forth the same type animation frames like in BF5.

What happened to Dice? I remember how awesome BFBC2 sounded. When BF3 came out, I was actually disappointed, because I expected it to be even better but it was worse. BFBC2 was the pinnacle of BF sound design.

Pretty fast reloads in both games. I would have expected post scriptum to take a bit longer to simulate you actually taking ammo from your Ammo pouches rather than always having ammunition at hand.

8:40 honestly I expected battlefield V to make this mistake. The enfield is build so that you can work the bolt without needing unshoulder the gun(unlike the K98). In battlefield he can not look threw his iron sights while working the bolt. In post scriptum he can.

It is hard to compare the audio as battlefields sound engine changes how weapons sound in different places. I believe PS has weightier firing animations but you can tell for the reloads that battlefields animators are more skilled. For both games the attention to detail is impressive and you can tell the devs put a lot of work in to creating authentic and satisfying games weapons.

Sounds in battlefield feel totally different in buildings halls etc. I have this weird feel like it's completely different gunshot sound but it's just top level reverb.

kapsel From what I’ve observed in testing, the sounds are split into 3 different types. Inside, outside (near objects) and outside in the open. All this footage was the last one, out in the open. This has much more echo than the other two, and guns themselves sound a little less loud. Being indoors the guns are super loud and only echo through the room. And being outside near objects (like in a small town, like in the middle of arras) it’s a mix between the two. Moderately loud initial boom and a moderate echo. Pretty sweet if you ask me.

@@PoeticWhisper There actually are quite a bit more situational sound zones than you mention. There is the Indoor sound, the reverb and scale of which changes depending on the size of the interior. As far as the outdoor sounds, there is, as you mentioned, the urban sound when the player is surrounded by buildings, which alone can make a drastic difference. Finally, there are many different open outdoor sound zones: OpenField, Desert, Canyon, Forest, and close/distant variants as well as sniper variants for all of the aforementioned. It's really an ingenious system has been in place since at least BF4. This video's sounds take place in the desert, which has the most feeble sound, and rightfully so if you've ever heard gunfire in the desert. The sound just gets lost into nothingness or muffled by sand.

At least Post Scriptum actually has the Thompson M1A1 that the US was issued instead of the M1928A1 that BF5 has. The M1928A1 was the non military model of the Thompson.

That's right, M19281 was mainly used in Pacific theater and the M1 Model in Europe. Not having a M1A1 model is just lazy, since both Tommy models had different attributes, like rate of fire and possibility to wield Drum mag (M1928A1).

Both games look very realistic and BFV takes the cake with the overall visuals and sound engine. Some of these people don't realize that these are to seperate kinds of games, one being a triple A and the other being a mil sim. The mil sim will of course have louder sounding guns and bigger explosions. BFV is a version of these iterations but more smoother and readjusted for gameplay purposes. BFV is made to be played with UI and or Audio. People will yell out orders and objectives will be ordered through morsecode, guns will of course be alot less loud so sounds balance out in the gameplay experience, especially in a chaotic combat environment such as Battlefield. In Post Scriptum, you aren't always in a fight and maps are alot more natural and wide, so audio balancing isn't quite an issue for the game.

One thing that BfV actually gets right over PS is the fact that the Gewehr 43 in reality didn't get reloaded using a box magazine (like PS shows it), but by using loading clips instead (like BfV shows it). Still, PS' sound design is superior by light years.

This is very clearly a biased comparison. The BFV clips were recorded using the "War Tapes" sound setting which heavily compresses the loudness of the sound, making fire sounds quieter and reverb/reflection sounds louder (not to mention the inconsistent sound levels between the recordings of the two games), drastically decreasing the impact of the sounds. While PS is indeed impressive, BFV has not been given a fair chance. Also, to those annoyed at the way the BFV soldiers hold the weapons, the idle positions change depending on how far up (or down) the player looks.

Bf5 lacks in gun noise and explosions, the guns have alot of echo and are muffled, as for the explosions, they don't feel like battlefield. The panzerfaust and PIAT's explosions are a fraction of what they actually are. I miss bf1, where the guns sounded more powerful and had that clunky metal noise as a cherry on the top. And those colossal explosion with ash and dirt after effects.

The echo is realalistic, it's the gun breaking the sound barrier, its muffled because you have the "war tapes" sound setting on. But bfv is a bad example of bf sounds, bf1 was asmr

I find it kinda funny that people still seem to think that bfv is a war simulator game. I'm pretty sure battlefield has always been and will always be a casual shooter with gameplay over realism. There's this one word I usually use with gaming which is called FUN, it means that the game is more enjoyable to play than to think about. I think just like always people just want to hate on bfv, has been the same shit over and over again ever since the first trailer dropped, people are hard set on hating on it. I doubt it has much to do with competence about how loud the guns are or anything in bfv, pretty sure they could've made them obnoxiously loud and realistic but that would make some areas of the map really obnoxious to be in with the fast pace and 30 people cramping into a big room. So yes, i think both games succeed with what they were going for, they're not even close to being the same game to begin with. This is like comparing squad and call of duty, the comparison can be made but the games never had the same goal in mind.. well except for making money, but that goes for any game.

People I rather have fun over realism. BFV maybe historically inaccurate in someways but the gunplay is so damn fun. I love history I really do but I also realize it’s a video game. The whole historical accuracy was thrown out the window when it became such. I will acknowledge the developers of Post Scriptum but too much realism is boring.

I notice on neither BFV or Post Scriptorum on the Sten the animation doesn’t lock the bolt back when loading a fresh mag from empty. That’s the point of the little notch above the bolt about 3/4 of the way to the rear, it’s kinda like a safety catch and primer.

Animations are more realistic in post scriptum. But much smoother in battlefield. The sounds are a toss up, one game is better on some than the other and vice versa. Although I do have to give a hand to battlefield that when you reload a bolt gun with a partial magazine the character catches the ejected live round with his thumb and puts it back in. And the stripper clip reload on the G43 vs changing the magazine is much more correct

Post Scriptum was spot on with the Chauchat. BFV's fires too quickly and like most of the guns in game sounded weak and unreal. Don't tell me firearms sound weak in real life for I've shot a good bit of them. Enough to tell you they certainly do not. However, both games have a piss poor, lazy, and pathetic pistol sound design. Every pistol in BFV sounded the same, and Post Scriptum's pistols sounded like the P08. It's so bad, I instantly thought of MW3. After BF1's sound design, I'm disappointed in BFV. Glad I deleted that shitty game. And also, why does every Battlefield game aside from 1 make my hands look like they're pasted onto a green screen or something? It feels like they have an outline. I know BF3 and sorta BF4 DID have an outline. Laying down in Battlefield V takes me outta the game. My hands look like paper, and the crawling animations are the shittiest I've ever seen.

It doesnt help that this guy ran BFV with the war tapes audio setting so the guns lose all of their base
