Personally I think it would be incredibly immersive if the old animations were used for when in non combat situations, and the new ones were used for when the player was in combat.

Underrated game, nice to see how some of the reloads changed.

i really like all the new animations except the MP40, something about pulling the new mag out of the magazine pouch just feels right.

The new animations on the 1911 makes it look like the character holding the gun has Parkinson’s disease

New ones are so much better! It's like he's actually in a warzone and is trying to reload quickly.

I like how a lot of re reloads don’t look particularly effortless, like how on the k98 they push 3 rounds in, get caught at the 4th and have to push again. It helps add a greater sense of emersion. I wish that sim games experimented with varying reload speeds that are effected by stamina, and suppression. So that while under fire or when winded the speed the soldier is able to cycle the weapon or reload is negatively impacted, it would add a extra dimension to the whole affair.

The old one looks like its teaching me something

Can we also just appreciate the weapon sounds and all the clunking noises of the magazines and the noise of the soldier grabbing a new mag fro his pocket. The actual gun sounds when you shoot in this game are also fantastic. After playing for some time i can always tell what faction and what class someone is playing just by the weapon sound.

the gewehr 41 new reload is amazing, love the details

In wwii era it would have been incorrect to drop the slide on a 1911 with the slide stop. The US army manual of arms taught to turn the pistol upward and out, pinch the slide between the thumb and 2nd knuckle of the fore finger, pull back and release. It was believed that using the slide stop would damage the frame. Also the trendy HK reload on the mp40 is out of place.

I feel the new animations look and feel better across the board, except for two accuracy nitpicks for the MP40 and STG44. The new animations for both make it appear as if they had AK-style rock-in magazine insertion, which they don't. The old animations had it correct: straight in & out mags.

Pretty sure if you try to "HK slap" the MP40 while it's blocked you will just have a painful experience, as it is not slapping it down but pulling it back and then down

Dear Treyarch: 0:42 THEY CAN DO IT, WHY CAN'T YOU? Cold War moaning aside, honestly the older animations were perhaps a bit less urgent, but they had a more unique character. Most of the new ones seem to be chasing some sort of modern FPS/Betolfeeld approach, and I'm not really the biggest fan of DICE's animation team.

The stripper clips flying out when he pulls the bolt forward is so satisfying

Just realized the old M1A1 Thompson reloads were a tad bit more realistic than the newer ones, the old animation actually features the lever mag release being pushed on to release the mag, which is not present in the new animations.

So, the M1 Garand hasn't chambered a round anymore when you remove the clip?

the slight camera shake when he pull out the mag and whenever the mag locked in on the new animation made it 10 times better

I like the older animations better cause it made the game slower paced, although Im glad they replaced the old bump fire garand

Hey, is it just me or do the ‘old ones’ look like new? The ‘new’ reload for the Enfield looks like the one we have currently.

1:16 For some reason STG is depicted as open bolt, even though only the MKb-42 was open bolt and production model STG-44 was closed bolt.

Well they messed up with the StG44 @ 1:31. Look closer it seems to be depicted as an open bolt.

It’s crazy how animations can change the feeling of a game. The new ones make the game feel so... high budget.

Maybe someday this game will get the recognition it deserves and praise for sticking to it's original goals..unlike some recent WW2 shooter.

Idk if this was intentional but the old one kinda looks like soldiers first time in war and and the new ones look like experienced soldiers

i fell that the old reloads are more accurate that the "new ones", like the infamoys HK slap i am certain that don´t work on mp40"and i am also certain that this slap thing was not an trend on this time, and the magazine check, which i found an nice touch". The old reloads from what i saw show the soldier pulling the magazine from his magazine pounch, while the new ones some of the anims are way to fast"comparision" and kinda weird. I personaly liked the style of most of old weapons and the bolt rifles "like the Lee-enfield, i found the old anims creative". But the new ones are not that bad, more fast probably to adapt on a more action packed fell. While the new one is kinda an slow and "kinda" tactical.

I honestly like quite a few of the old ones better they all look like insurgency speed reloads now lol

I can get behind the quicker reloads for Post Scriptum, the overall pace of the game is quicker than its counterpart (Squad) so the slightly quicker reloads make sense. This wasn't always the case though and If any of you were around from the beginning, when there were less vehicles and automatic weapons, you'll know what I mean.

In many of the new animations where the character taps the mag on the gun, it looks like the mag is still parented to the gun and not the world because the gun copies the exact movement of the mag when it bounces off. Not sure if that's intentional but it comes off as unprofessional. Hard to find a mistake with these. They're all so beautiful.

Im liking how the Garand animations still kept the unused clips right after loading a fresh one

My only gripe is with the mg34 loading. As an owner of one, you really don't want to slam down the top cover like that as it would break the locking lug off eventually. The 42 fixed that error by changing the way the lug was made. Still, the new animations look great

the old animations for the STG44 and MP40 are better. the STG44 doesn't use rock in magazines and for the MP40 the old anim clearly shows that the magazine in pulled from a pouch which you dont see in games often

They didn't even fix the Thompson reload. It's like they completely forgot that like the other SMGs, it too has a cocking handle that needs to be pulled to chamber a round

some of the movement of the old ones are too light

1:44 the animator knows you cant do an H&K Slapp on an mp40 right? that wouldnt be beneficial to your hand as the charging handle would move down as theres a crease to prevent the handle from moving, you have to pull it back and down to put it into firing position so ouch

The new empty reload of the MP40 is the spiritual ancestor of the classic MP5 slap.

The new animations look so much better. But it’s a shame the BAR reload is still wrong, and the Lee Enfield still has post-war adjustable sights...

Looks like animator learned how to add more force into the animation (even if exaggerated) to make it look good.

So much better now. Old ones ruined the immersion when ennemies were close to you. Like ennemy soldiers were a few meters away from you and your guy was like : "here I take my mag and I will put it... wait, check the bullets first, nice bullets! Oh wait I forgot what I was doing, oh yes, reloading! Put the mag in, what next? Oh yeah, chamber a round, I often forget about th..." Your guy gets shot.

I don't get it, why to the STG44 have to hit on the side of the gun. If it was for Thompson's I understand, sometimes the cartridges when be jammed inside so that had to occasionally bang it to release unjam the magazine

I wish that the mp40 reload was better before. It’s really cool to see the mag come out of the gun with no bullets and put in a new mag with bullets. Now it’s you just shove it in, ruining the amazing detail that this game used to show.
