The final chapter in this mini-series. I'm really pleased to see so many of you have enjoyed these lore bites. I don't really have any other events in mind for more, so for now I'm just going to focus on getting the Second Succession War series going, hopefully later this month.

"....an alliance that would change the course of human history..." I get tingles when you say that. I wonder if that was something that pushed the Star League toward realization; that Ian, Albert, and all the rest could actually do something so stupendous in their own lifetimes.

Well Ian certainly believed that it was his destiny to do what others thought impossible. You can almost understand how the periphery standing up to him when he was so close to achieving that goal pushed him over the edge.

@@SvenVanDerPlank He was probably up late at night before the start of the Reunification War, staring at maps and muttering to himself, slowly going apesh%t over it. Like having a piece of gristle stuck in your teeth after having the finest steak. I probably wouldn't get the gristle out by picking up a sledgehammer and knocking all my teeth out, though.

I now play this game where I hit the like button the moment the first main note of the outro plays, when the screen turns black, to punctuate that the like has true meaning! Great video as usual. Though I know you are focusing on the Second Succession War, I hope you continue to do more 'fragments' of Battletech in the future. Fragment Ideas: Analysis of the Deep Periphery States. In-depth look at some of the organizations and resistance cells during the Amaris/Star League Civil War (ex: the Black Guard Remnants that survived the coup, the trials and tribulations of the Secret/Hidden Fleet). A more in-depth look at Jerome Blake and the people who helped him form Comstar. Biographies of vital non-mechwarriors; individuals whose engineering, logistics, and technical expertise helped carry the day (ex: the engineers who built the Trans-Siberian rail network during the liberation of Earth).

I like several of those ideas but unfortunately most of them just don't have enough info in the sourcebooks to make a compelling video out of (or at least one that lasts more than 90 seconds). I did announce on my Patreon recently that my next series after the Second Succession War will focus on some of the deep periphery states.

To be fair the Terran Alliance and it's succesor the Hegemony were never absolute "monarchies" until much later. It was a parliamentary Republic or perhaps Democracy. McKenna didn't change much except making the post of Director-General a "for-life" position until he or she abdicates or is removed from the post for heavy crimes. The more absolute aspects came with the birthright laws introduced by later Camerons.

With all these announcements or games and updates being released this year, and soon? My year is already great, and these bites are icing on the funeral cake of the Smoke Jaguars lost at the military city of Durgan! MechWarrior 3 will always be a favorite.

You didn't hear of the last update that come for Mechwarrior 5 this year? The Dragon Gambit? I really love this game, even that insanely hard, it can make it more easy with mods and enable the auto-aim, even that not make it completely easy, I failed the mission Distress Call five times before researching a guide and changing one of the mechs of my team, a Catapult for an Orion, this game is not like Battletech, is more an action game than a tactical game, so you get attached to your favourite mech or the mech that is more easy for you to use, in my case a Marauder, in Battletech now I have a Atlas.

@@TheKeyser94 I actually have all the DLC, but I have to admit playing it on a console is still weird. I know they're 2 different styles of play, but I still use BattleTech since I'm a big fan of the novels. Still, it took some getting used to playing on PS5. I still have my copies of the older games.

I do eventually wanna get a better computer, right now I'm on a slightly older laptop. But I'm pumped for MechWarrior 5: Clans! MechWarrior 2 was the first game I ever played on anything, so my childhood is coming full circle.

@@thomasrose4523 I fairly new to this franchise, I find it by accident when I was watching The Witch of Mercury, and downloading some mech games like Daemon X Machina and Front Mission Evolved, but it was to hard to me to get in the universe, I had to play three times the tutorial for Battletech to finally get the gameplay loop, I trough that MechWarrior 5 was going to be more easy, because is a more action oriented game, how wrong I was, I had to get some mods and enable the auto-aim to make it sightly easy, but that not make the battles less brutal.

Such a nice short series, but hopefully you’ll also continues these as a project between your larger ones or even after the 2nd succession war main series - cover the small bits of history missed in the Star League Civil War, 1st and 2nd Succession Wars, etc. Plus knowing how fractured the stuff of the 3rd succession war is, this will probably be the way most of it’ll have to be covered going from the early days tho thankfully to the books we have more info on the later days.

There are always details that get glossed over, but my history series is a lot more comprehensive now so there's not too many things deserving of a video that didn't already make it into the project. You're absolutely right on the Third Succession War. The way I cover that conflict will be much more akin to the Age of War series where I focus an episode on a specific event and the dates between chapters jump back and forth a bit.

Yeah, I wish I included them in my original series for the sake of completeness but I had no idea at the time just had in-depth I was going to go with later series. One day I'll probably redo the entire Age of War.

No, they're all new. The November Conspiracy episode I did first was actually an old script I wrote and recorded back when I did the Age of War series but I ended up cutting it. I think I shared that original recording on Patreon a while back. If you go to the "Introduction to the Age of War" episode you can see me setting up the November Conspiracy but I decided in the end just to throw a couple lines in at the start of the Davion Civil War to briefly explain the important changes.
