Take. A. Bow. The sheer scale and density of the timeline in this chapter in particular is insane, I understand why it was such a nightmare to get it done. But you did it, and it was fantastic. Get Tex to recommend a good whisky or something, you've more than earned it.

After I finished my part of the video I went back and watched Tex's "Guerra on Terra" for the first time in years. Towards the end he mentioned making the McKenna-class part 987 of Tex Talks BattleTech as a joke so I thought it would be fitting if I let him go over it. Probably would have fit better earlier in the series but oh well.

Central Washington native here: your pronunciation of all of the Washington and Oregon cities was spot on, no mean feat considering the various renditions of "Spokane," "Wenatchee," and "Yakima" I've heard in my life. I love the thought of battered SLDF forces pausing for a microbrew and bratwurst in the psuedo-Bavarian tourist town of Leavenworth as the newly-recovered leader of the Goddamn Black Watch regaled them with tales of her exploits over the previous decade.

Thank you for the kind words. I think a large part of the reason I put so much effort into the ground battles of this one is that I knew it was a unique opportunity to use maps extensively. I know there are other planetary maps for key worlds available but obviously nothing compared to Google Earth. I'll try to use them where possible in the future. Always open to pronunciation corrections as well if there was something particularly egregious.

@@SvenVanDerPlank Sven, that is great to hear. I'm taking you up on the pronounciation thing: It is Magdeburg not Madgeburg and the northern Part of Berlin is called "Prenzlauer Berg" (these days a super gentrified yuppie area, it's acutally quite infamous). The Havel river has is pronounciation on the "a" so its HAvel. Also the Ruhr is in the West of our county, not in the east. The rest is pronounced very well! But nevermind these little mistakes, you did an amazing job and again - I'm very grateful for you work and whish you all the best for the future.

There are so many things I would like to say and so many questions I would like to ask you about the making of this work. Suffice it to say I sincerely hope that the creators of Battletech realize the value of resourcs like the one you have crafted here. The funny thing is that I am listening to this during part of the day, and then I listen to Shelby Foote's massive American Civil War History and I find that there is a sort of battle going on in my head when I imagine mechs on the battlefields of VIrginia, and formations of troops arrayed Napoelonic style marching on Puget Sound. I am very proud of what you have achieved here.

Apart from a few names and dates, there isn't really much known of the fighting in that region. In fact the sourcebook doesn't go into detail on any North America city apart from the capital. New York is the only one and that came from either the Wolf Clan or Jade Falcon sourcebook if I remember correctly.

@@SvenVanDerPlank I figured, I noticed there didn't seem to be much detail on Australia either.

For the longest time I was a huge 40k fan. I started reading the books back when I was in Middle School. But I've come to love the Battletech universe much more intensely. While creators like Tex may cover the same topics as you with their own eccentric spin, I love how in depth your videos are. When I see your videos, even if it's one that I've listened to before, I smile because I know it's gonna be a good time. You don't understand how much I appreciate your dedication to the craft.

Perth had a defensive role in WW2, with a single naval yard in Rockingham and a set of gun emplacements on Rottnest Isle off of the coast to ward off potential invaders. When we were kids, my brother and I used to imagine how a coastal defence would've played out if that had ever taken place. It was so unreal to hear about an in-universe beach landing actually taking place in the lore. The idea of Mech warfare in real world locations still fires off my imagination as an adult, having since visited other cities in the world (such as Seoul, London and Berlin) as well as the isolated deserts of Australia's North. Bravo Sven and company, You guys really hit this one out of the park, and thank you.

Great score too. The music selection reminds the listener of the tempo of continuous pitched battles.

Thank you, I'm glad it lived up to your expectations. When I was working on the original intro for this whole series, I always knew I wanted to use that specific song from Kestrel Lancers, but I also had a vague idea of using the one I ended up playing at the start of this chapter for just this purpose. Couldn't really visualise how it would work though but when I plugged it in it all seemed to come together. I was so happy with the result that I'd continually rewatch those opening two minutes to motivate myself whenever I hit another roadblock.

Never doing this again? Sad times, I would love to see more of these for the other great conflicts across the succession wars and beyond. Ticking off the places I've been across the campaign was a fun time. Thanks for such a deep and detailed dive!

I'm meant I'm never doing another 105 minute video in this level of detail. I'll absolutely continue with the history & lore series into later eras.

Very nicely done. Well enough in fact that its definitely getting added to my growing Battletech lore playlist of the best and most comprehensive videos on the history of Battletech. 👏 I grew up not far from Unity City. You're pronunciation of cities in the Pacific Northwest was good (although there's a handful that you were spared from having to try to pronounce which most people get wrong, like Puyallup).

Thank you, I'm really pleased you enjoyed it. I didn't have much trouble with cities in that region. Think the only one I had to correct was Yakima which I pronounced ya-KEE-ma originally. I already had to deal with Weippe in the earlier Reunification War series.

Amaris was misunderstood. he saw the rot and sham that the Star League truly was and wanted to reform it into the shining example of humanity for all to admire... honest.

There have been many many deranged despots who slaughtered millions because they believed they were justified by their cause. In their wake, destruction and devastation. Amaris was one such individual bent on obtaining absolute power. The ensuing madness fed souls into a meat grinder. Any good intent he might have had was shown to be false.
