I'm so happy to see all these old classic games getting remastered. Battlezone 1998 was a childhood favorite of mine. I even have the black Nintendo 64 cartridge of the game before I learned it was on PC because I loved the game so much.

I still remember the units quotes, such as "Golem reporting", "crushing the enemy", "ahhhh fresh air" and "talk to me". Good times! Infact i remember on one of the earlier US missions, where you had to take over a hauler or something, i flew passed, ejected from my, swung around in mid-air and sniped the pilot, all in the space of about 4 seconds:)

Here's hoping for a new Battlezone after the first and second remasters are out. For now, though, I'm just happy to see that this IP isn't collecting dust in a file cabinet somewhere.

i used to play this game with my dad... actually he is the one who introduce me to this game when i was 8 years old. we own battlezone 1 and 2 and he still plays battlezone 2 , he is around 60 years old now but he still plays videogames hahaha. he used to be a mechwarrior 2 hardcore fan

Loved to play Battlezone! Got my Voodoo 2 graphics card and the game came with it. Anyone remember some of the old "Clans" from back in the day? redTALON here.

I just would have wished for a 'remake' instead of remaster with almost exactly the same assets. Looks almost the same now. Granted, the original graphics have aged very well for a 3D game and are still quite amazing, especially in the design perspective. Even so, they were made 1998, almost 20 years ago and I would really like a big upgrade, much like Homeworld got. Either way, this is instant buy for me, and I rarely instant buy games. This is the best game I have ever played. So bloody happy it is coming back in one form or another. This game is my childhood. Thank you for bringing me back.

+Squarely Alright, after looking at some comparison screenshots I realize that the changes are actually bigger than when you first look at it. Still would have wanted a bigger improvement, but more than criticizing it I am now mostly just really looking forward to try it out. With new multiplayer and workshop it has every potential to be awesome!

+Squarely Subtlety is key when remastering. Do too much and you depart from the original, and can't play on nostalgia any more. Downside: people don't notice very quickly ;)

You just got the number one on my wishlist. I enjoy the updated look of the units even though they still look a little too angular. Then again I'm used to some of the fan renders on DeviantArt but regardless. This redux looks really promising and I can't wait to see what kind of achievements and trading card items you come up with.

Man, I still play it once in a while, knowing that some devs sticked to the game releasing patches and that there's still people playing online and making maps and shit. Still got the original manuals from BZI and II. And the original box from BZI

Oh my god. Atari, Sega, and Nintendo was childhood for most...but this was mine. Nostalgia complete. Side note: How am I just now hearing about this? I'm one of a very small group of people who would THROW money at this, and I basically came upon it by accident.

Add to it, enhance it, but please please please don't change it. It has to be like the original (BZ1) or it will surely fail. Battlezone( pc) was and still is the best game I ever played. I can't wait!. Love, Bzerka.

It's unfortunate that the game chugs heavily when more than 1 ship explodes at the same time. It's even worse provided the destruction effects have been DOWNGRADED from the 1998 version with the lack of flying parts (buildings vanish when destroyed and vehicles vanish their entire hull instantly after flying through the air, you can even get damaged by the invisible parts that are supposed to appear after)

Why aren't the Grizzly's V-thrusters working? Rebellion needs to make sure it makes use of the updated graphics packs like working Grizzly V-thrusters and round Grizzly & Czar tank barrels. Said content was published back in '98/'99 by the original developers post-initial release. Is Rebellion using an older source code (pre-Large Assets) for the game? Nonetheless, this is very cool. As someone who's played BZ1 since 1998, I'm very much looking forward to this.

+FulmenTheFinn The improved cockpits are largely deprecated. The later official versions (1.5, some distributions of 1.4) didn't use them at all. Of course, this is a remaster. There aren't any of the original vehicle models in the trailer, why would the same be true of the cockpits?

+Anthony Hadley Yeah, I guess so. My CD had them already so personally I grew to know and love them the same way others grew to know and love the pre-improvement models. As long as the graphics are equivalent or better than BZ1 1.5, I'll be just fine. I'm quite excited about this. It's so hard to get a decent strat in BZ1 these days. Will definitely buy the Steam version!

+Anthony Hadley To be fair, Battlezone kinda didn't look like a 1998 game when it came out in 98, at least not with all the hidden special effects and settings turned on in the ini files. The game was a cut above.
