Loved you're vid as it brought back, yes, fond memories. The storms r bad but make for a good story. I woke up Saturday morning (after Friday nights downpour) hearing "babbling brook" noise outside my tent. Unzipped the door, just 6 feet away was a babbling brook! (I should upload the vids). After "Tram Drivers" orientation we were told the afternoon trams were cancelled because of those two approaching storms. The first storm beat me back to camp so I rode it out at the Theater in the Woods. Snagged a gig driving carts between storms (needed something to do) and the second storm looked much worse as it approached than the earlier storm. Took two days for things to dry up then great wx the rest of the week! The weather makes AirVenture and flying much more interesting! Been going to Oshkosh since '74. I just discovered your channel and pleased to find a great youtuber from Skypark. I'm based at 1G3. Sorry to see ya escaping to Miami. Was a super place in the sixties, not sure about now! (much more money down there which means great flying opportunities) Best of luck! Must b having too much fun to make vids LOL

I watched earlier but I came back to say..KID? you are one of the luckiest young men alive..I mean at the SUPERBOWL/WORLD SERIES of air shows and you get to fly and be a pilot WITH YOUR DAD! I hope you always appreciate that.

Having spent years car camping may I recommend when you decide to replace your tent that you go with the Eureka 6 person Copper Canyon. Learn how to guy it down properly and give it a couple of coats of Nikwax Waterproofing and you will stay dry through most thunderstorms. I have gone through 40mph winds plus gust to 60 in mine and stayed dry.

Last year we had the same problem with a similar one room four corner external support tent. This year we purchased a new REI “storm proof” tent which worked great.

Thank you for the video. We arrived on Friday and had to endure all three storms. We evacuated to the museum. Fortunately, the weather cleared and was a great week. Be well!

I'm not at OSH, but was watching on the live stream. It looked bad and your experience bears that out. Glad you're safe - hope you get sunny, dry weather the rest of the week.

What you pay for room and how far from site and did you have reservations.

I got there Sunday afternoon and was so busy that i could not watch your uploads till now. Glad you got a room. I was following you on FB and really got worried when i saw the tent was down. I usually get my room the Friday and Saturday before the show. Glad you survived and hope the gear did too. I brought the New Expedition rather than the Hummer, wish we could have come and picked you up if we had arrived earlier. You will remember this one most of all!

What I got out of all of that is that it rained.

Glad you found a hotel and hopefully no hail in the other storms. The wind caused havoc a number of years ago I remember. Take care.

Rough weather beginning for you guys, but you are definitely resourceful! I would suggest ditching the Ozark trail tent. I researched tents last April for a 9 day outdoor RC Event at Triple tree aerodrome and found the Coleman Insta tent a much better made, water tight soloution. It weighs more (40lbs) but makes for a very secure shelter in wind or rain! My 2cents. Love the blog and appreciate your efforts to share this experience with all of us who cannot attend.

Couldn’t come in on Sunday bc of weather. We are leaving tomorrow morning at 5 and should arrive at OSH around 10 or 11. Hopefully we can get parking, even though it’ll probably suck. Just saw that they re-opened GAC, so that’s good. Too late to make in today though.

Those of us who live here have a running joke of sorts; "How do you know when EAA starts? Just listen for the severe weather sirens to go off". EAA/RUSA/CUSA...whatever...if it's out at the EAA grounds or across 41 at Ford Field, there WILL be one day of torrential rain and storms!lol! All part of the experience and besides, it usually dries up in a couple days. Just bring a LOT of "OFF"!

The storm hit us really hard in Appleton we had a tornado touch down next to our house so we won’t have power all week

I saw the rv event, he hit the pavement really hard, smashed his tail wheel, and lost lateral control of the plane. I hear he put a strut through the wing in the process

This amazes me the most. People have hundred thousandths worth of planes and they show up with the shittyist tents you can imagine.

I got that same CStone hotel night of the 21st last minute...bargain price of 500USD per night plus tax of course. Hope you guys got a better deal !

I’m not camping in Oshkosh but I live about 10 miles north of Oshkosh. Throughout Friday and Saturday I tried to keep all the campers in my prayers. I’m glad everyone is ok!!!

I was really disappointed that I couldn't make it there this year....now...not so much. Nothing worse than a wet sleeping bag.
