You didn’t even mention Florian Wirtz. This guy is pure insanity. He is the best player in the whole world this season. He is the best scoring midfielder in terms of G+A in the top 5 leagues (maybe in every league, but I didn’t know that). What makes this even crazier is that he really doesn’t define himself with goals and assists, like most of the players, that have such numbers. Wirtz plays a integral part in build up. He is dictating the tempo of the game together with Xhaka. Also his defensive workrate is one of the best out there. He has been one of the best pressing players this season in the Bundesliga. Leverkusen will win all competitions this year. I think Germany will also perform well at the Euros. That’s why Wirtz is currently playing the best 2023/2024 season out of any player. He should be awarded with the Ballon d‘or

"Just the Europa League" is always a dumb thing to say. It's still an very hard competition. This year non group thirds from the champions league even made it to the semis (only 2 in the quarters). Also liverpool who are also in the title race for the premier league are already out. And if thats not enough we are talking about winning it without even losing 1 game. Every often one team may lose a game in groups due to rotations or just slumping it, or in knockouts they lose one and win on aggregate, but Leverkusen never lost. Its just insane.

While what Leverkusen have done is absolutely incredible you also have to consider how weak teams are this season. An aging and dysfunctional Bayern, The top English clubs are on their way out and need to rebuild, Barca and Madrid are also rebuilding... psg are.... psg. The top teams being relatively poor this season has created some absolutely amazing football, such a great season.

If West Ham wasn’t so gung ho in chasing for a winner during the latter stage of their home game, they would have beaten Leverkusen’s unbeaten record.
