Excellent game. The interaction between the different troop types is unique and on one level feels that it won't work and yet it does. A genuinely innovative design.

To me the most impressive thing about this game is that it evokes the history and setting of the F&I War in almost the exact same ways as Wilderness War, but goes about it with a design that is 100% different. Pretty admirable achievement.

Thanks! You have no idea how much Wilderness War weighted on my shoulders while designing B&T. I had to create my own distinctive voice in the footsteps of a giant (Volko). In the end, he's the one who enthusiastically ushered me to GMT.

So sorry my radar missed your review last summer (probably during my vacation). You give a concise and thorough overview of the game's key aspects. Thanks, Wise Guy!

Thank you for the review. I've played a friend's copy of this one, enjoyed the gameplay but it's not really my theme, and although the dice did "click" at the end I'd much prefer a less strict version of units matching. Also, we've found it was way too easy to hold onto e.g. Carlise with French/Indian light units - British couldn't muster enough numerical superiority with their square units and were repulsed..

Sounds very interesting and fun......being obviously way too much a stick in the mud I've always stayed away from games using cards for some reason.....oh....that's right....I said why.....because I'm a old fashion stick in the mud without an open mind.....sounds like I'm going to have to broaden my mindset....that is of coarse assuming I have much of a mind left. Really like the aspect of the intended reproduction of the period and territory's advantages and limitations....the overall flavor intended. Sounds pretty damn cool actually. Thanks for sharing with this mud stuck rotten log.👍👍👍

Stephen, you are definitely not alone :-) I was the same, and it took one of Mark Herman's Clio's Corner article in C3i to make me jump enthusiastically to the other side.
