I fucking love this series, it's amazing and well done, and the costumes are fantastic.

Yh this show was awesome. Historically accurate compared to other shows. However, they could've done a few more episodes. They completely missed the 3rd Century Crisis.

They should make a second season

This is an absolutely excellent series. I recommend it highly to anyone interested in ancient history, politics, war or current affairs. The whole series is based on the Roman written records of the day. R

@Mack8136 I guess size is not the only metric of greatness. The Mongols conquered an enormous part of Eurasia but all they could provide was destruction, carnage and genocide. Their "empire" disintegrated soon and they did not leave any legacy of greatness. The Roman Empire was built on bloodshed too but they were not as barbaric as the Mongols, and brought good administration, build roads and infrastructure and contributed to the overall progress of civilization.

@AbberantRender I agree the Romans were better in military and outward expansion. But not so with technological innovation and advancement...I'd give that to the Han Chinese. But both were great overall.

@DragonOfQin Yeah as a Korean I freely admit I love Chinese culture and history. There are many similarities and connections between Korea and China (language, culture,e c) throughout all history. Both victims of WW2 too. I do want to go to China one day and learn Mandarin and assimilate into Chinese =) BTW I'm very excited for China's current space program. It will interesting what they do in the future ;)

@DragonOfQin One more thing, though. You said "Korea as a nation was a vassal of China and have proven themselves to be faithful to China since Korea's 3 kingdoms period, Song and Ming period" ---What do you mean by that? Sorry, I'm a little ignorant of East Asian history actually could you lecture me on that? Thanks ;)

What you also fail to realise is that the U.S. at least gave the opportunity for democracy in Korea, whereas under equally heavy Chinese influence, the North has become a nation with a familial line of dictators. Even China itself by all accounts is a nation oppressed under the boot of a one-party dictatorship. While I respect the Chinese people greatly for all they've endured and all they've accomplished, I have nothing but contempt for a government that represses millions, or its sympathisers.

@VanillaSnow23 In comparison, the Roman Empire was a far more capable military power. Whereas the ancient Chinese Empire possessed a far larger army, Rome was unparallelled in its military might; its organisation, quality of training, and standardisation of equipment and doctrine, among other things, made it so. The Roman Military was more or less a modern military before its time, and many modern militaries build off of its precedents.
@AbberantRender12 жыл бұрын
@VanillaSnow23 Not so much the level of technological advancement that determined Rome's military superiority so much as the ideas that went into its organisation, training, and equipping. The Roman military most significantly influenced the development of the modern military: moreso than any other ancient military.

@AbberantRender The Roman Empire had a larger population than ancient China. As for who was more technologically advanced, that is up to debate. But I have my gut instincts..

And how exactly do Japan and "The West" "stick their noses into" our affairs? Japan has no influence at all over the politics of either North or South Korea, and of western nations, only the U.S. has any real influence over the affairs of South Korea; something that is regrettable, but understandable given the fact that the ROK's position as a G20 economy and "G10" military power can all be traced to U.S. aid.
