Not only it's not spring without these swifts' peculiar chirp but these little birds are incredibly useful because they devour millions of insects every year, same goes for swallows. Many years ago I used to observe a lot of house martins as well but not anymore. Everybody should install one of those boxes, at least one, in every house. It's our duty to protect these species because at the same time we're also the cause of their downfall.
