Yeah, there’s something just really off-putting about dead silence while watching the Tele. It gives off really creepy vibes.

I think they were hoping to get the problem fixed quickly enough to not need it. Or it was such a big issue that they forgot. ^^;

@@PredictedCyborg ​ usually the music comes on as soon as the continuity announcer stops talking - they have control over the music as they dip it or silence it when they speak. based on the frozen countdown clock, visual issues after the first announcement that they're bringing it back (such as the bbc 2 ident appearing for a moment and the pure white screen), i think there was an issue that prevented them from cueing audio - something possibly locking up while the eastenders trailer and knitting circle ident played out.

I think something happened to the On-Air vision mixer. The only thing they can get when it happens is the announcers voice and the BBC One Issue Graphic

I mean to be fair, by now I think a lot of us Brits find this bit of the Beeb charming in a weird way! xD I mean, at least I do... and a number of Brits in these comments. At the very least it's funny to watch things go a little bit wrong.

Actually I think they should be quite proud, especially the continuity announcer. Your tripe can be found elsewhere, such as American broadcasters who aren't publicly funded and regulated.

@@ryanredmond87 I have survived without the BBC's tripe for over 20 years, I dont need it, I can get it elsewhere or buy a DVD The PSB BBC need to move with the times, PSB Channel4 is funded solely by Advertising, they have many channels as well (E4,More4,Film4,4Music etc) so if they (as a PSB) can survive with ads, its time the BBC followed! Plus the fact the BBC can already advertise, They do it abroad on BBC America/Canada/Kids channels they have over there, so its a no-brainer they can put Ads on the UK and make TV completely FREE at point of use, like it SHOULD be - eg. Freeview/Freesat are mis-named, because to receive their services you have to pay for the BBC If you are one who hates Adverts, you can now simply record the TV on a PVR and then >FF> the ads - TV is FREE in many countries, either funded with ads or government of said countries - TV in the UK should be FREE as well, Nuff Said!
