Brian Cox is just one of those people that can smile through anything........well, until he reached 5g's that is. It took 5g's to force the smile off his face. Even Brian's smile couldn't withstand the force of gravity :D

If you go to Epcot, "Mission Space" takes you up to about 2.5G. What they didn't show was Prof. Cox going through a medical checkup before they allowed him on the centrifuge.

Remember that we are talking about acceleration. Jupiter gravitation is much more strong that just 5 times earth. For example, if an object is 4 million kilometers from the center of Jupiter it will be pulled by a "force" 300 times greater than if it was situated at the same distance from Earth. So not 2 times.

Funny you should say that -- Time and gravity are of course relative. Although interestingly, it works in the opposite way. Increases in gravity slow time down, and decreases speed it up...

With a planet's gravity, the forces converge towards the centre of gravity of the planet. With a centripetal acceleration, the [virtual] centrifugal forces diverge from the centre of acceleration (the centre of rotation), which sort of make it seem more like antigravity, don't you think? When you are in a circular orbit around a planet, the [virtual] centrifugal force cancels out the gravitational force of the planet, so one might think of the [virtual] centrifugal force as [sort of...] antigravity, if gravity and acceleration are considered equivalent (Einstein's equivalence principle).

I don't think saying something is finely tuned implies agency, if that is what you were thinking of. The very act of evolution is an act of fine tuning, developing in ways that fit your ecosystem. No agency required. So we are very finely tuned. It's our environment that is not finely tuned.

Well, the thing is, if gravity on Earth was say 1.5g then all the specimens on the planet would simply be stronger and more capable of meandering around in the heightened gravity. I honestly think if there were an enormous chamber that could keep a population at 1.5g for quite some time then they would either become significantly stronger or begin to deteriorate under the force, I personally think the former is more likely.

Not really lol you have to really try hard to stay awake past 3G's since all the blood from your head/brain will get pulled down away from your brain, and someone untrained will pass out at 6G's usually and die in 20 to 30 seconds after passing out due to the brain dying of lack of oxygen.

Does this comment explain gravity? Energy in Matter and Light form follows its location plus its own momentum in spacetime unless acted upon.. basic.. but it "runs" on spacetime to be able to "calculate" or "work" it self out.. apple follows spacetime.. spacetime goes faster towards higher density.. Could spacetime be the physical cpu and RAM an energy needs to be? Like energy and spacetime sitting up a tree.. then made you, me and Bill Murray. I think..🖖🐶🛀🎶
