“I’m that color and I wouldn’t say that!” You are not Trevor Noah, you grew up in Britain from the age of two, he was born and raised in South Africa during a time when his existence was actually technically legal, he speaks openly about how this affected him and also how his mother handled it was good humour and his family loves to make jokes and that is how they connect. You have two very different lives and the contexts of those lives impact your views and you ability to handle humor. Trevor Noah acknowledges and raises awareness of racial issues through humour and listens to many different stories while telling his own in a way that is consumable for a broader audience meanwhile you attack those who you view have a lesser opinion or have had a different experience and relationship with their racial identity. Not every black person has had the same experiences especially when they live in different countries, like in Trevor Noah’s case where most of his community was also black people (mostly due to the separation of races in South Africa). Context is everything. Zeinab Badawi was so unprofessional this interview I was so frustrated throughout it because she just wanted to sit there and rant at him about how she thinks he is wrong and isn’t a good black person instead of letting him answer the questions she is meant to be asking and letting him explain. Dumb questions too might I add that are just geared to try to make Trevor Noah look bad. He took it in stride, I would have simply walked out and say “good day, you can rant to the camera now cause that all you wanted to do anyways”

This video proves that having an "English" accent doesn't make one intelligent.

I commend Trevor Noah for keeping his calm and handling the situation so eloquently. This was the most unprofessional interviewer I’ve ever seen, she was practically speaks over him and for him. If anything this made me admire Trevor Noah’s comedy tenfold more.

The Rihanna analogy was genius... basically called her crazy and doesn't look like she caught that.

When Trevor was performing in South Africa he made many “racial” jokes. He took us ALL, black, white, green, yellow, apart. He was never offensive but extremely funny the way he joked about our characteristics. Everyone laughed and if we can’t laugh at ourselves then the world is becoming a very sad place. Well done Mr Noah. You are a great comedian and handled this interview with skill and decorum.

This interviewer is the definition of "You will hear my point and I will do my best to make you say what I want you to say" She wasn't here to hear Trevor. She just wasn't ready for how smart and intelligent this man is.

What a level-headed view this man has. He stayed true to himself no matter how hard the interviewer tried to discredit him.

I was in utter disbelief with how hard this interviewer was trying to take Trevor Noah down. She had a very strong group of opinions about every aspect of a comedians role. I found it frustrating how she kept cutting him off. She could have said ' I don't like what you do' and been much more honest.

Thanks to the interviewer, I respect Trevor more than ever

I love the look on Trevor's face, a couple of times, like he's both thoroughly amused and somewhat surprised by her arrogance.

It's hard to argue with someone who was taught to hate who they are. The way Trevor refers to chocolate is that of joy, regardless of the color of the chocolate.

She was a horrible interviewer she was just attacking him telling him what he should regret . It’s called freedom of speech

With all due respect, every one is different. Just because both Trevor and other dude have same skin color doesn't mean they have to think the same way. All white black, brown must behave and think the same by your logic then. Secondly, wait and hear the answers for your hard hitting questions. You can't prepare your questions and try to make your guests uncomfortable but not have the respect to hear their reason and answers.

She was brutal.. there is no listening to anything he is saying. Just pushing through the conversation to make a point. The level of patience and respect given by Trevor here is truly impressive. He had every right to walk out of the interview.

Trevor Noah grew up in a mixed race family during apartheid South Africa. I think he understands racism pretty well. What makes his comedy special is how he uses that experience to break down barriers and encourage people to connect with each other across racial 'boundaries', through the medium of shared laughter. It's because he "goes there" that we're able to bring to light these deep, difficult and painful issues in a slightly more accessible (if not always comfortable) way. I think he should be celebrated for this, not vilified by a low-grade reporter looking to score cheap talking points. (full disclosure: proud South African here!)

I am always so impressed by Trevor Noah. His ability to remain calm, analyze, understand, and reason just blows me away.

Only Trevor Noah can be so patient, eloquent, well mannered and educated to deal with this woman in graceful way that he did. He is a genius.

Trevor level of patience during this conversation is what I aspire for.

She’s constantly interrupting and don’t understand what Trevor is saying- either she’s made up her mind about him or she’s just ignorant… The level of patience he has with her is amazing- I would’ve walk out, cause she’s not being constructive in any way…

Wow, she's so confrontational, but he's so cool and collected, she comes off as a terrible interviewer and he came out as the cool and clever guy that he is.

Scrutinize: To examine or inspect closely and thoroughly. Now when you have a person is incapable of listening with an agenda doing the scrutinizing...this is what it looks like. Very hard to watch. Trevor's IQ and Ego truly shines here are as he does not react to her nonsense.

This really shows that people who are too heavily engrained in the world of academia can really loose touch with reality and other social groups.

I hope she watches this video to see how crazy she is, she didn't get the joke.

Is this lady interviewing Trevor Noah, or herself? To me, she seems more interested in getting her own viewpoints out, than to hear Trevor's.

Trevor the depth of your thinking guided the interviewer to become more thoughtful and it became an actual conversation in the end. She wanted to frame the issue in easy boxes for media/audience consumption. You did not allow this.

Never heard of any one ever being offended by being compared to something that is universally loved. This interviewer is trying to stir up outrage for the sake of having something to be outraged about. If a man compared my eyes or skin to chocolate (and they have), it would be flattering. They’re comparing me to something that is beloved by almost every person on Earth and widely considered a delicacy in many places. Nothing offensive in that. That’s like being upset by someone saying “You’re as sweet as pie!”. It’s… a compliment. And, Trevor’s way of simplifying skin colors onto shades of chocolate is philosophically beautiful. It really makes us all think about the fact that at the end of the day, we’re all still the same underneath - regardless of our appearance or “flavor”!

He is so much smarter than this journalist.. Educate the masses Trevor.

Wow. I'm seeing this almost 2 years late, but I'm so impressed with Trevor's patience, his calm, and his obvious intelligence. This interview didn't stand a chance. BTW, his book is great!! And when you read it, you will "hear" his voice!!

I applaud Trevor for his patience. This interview showed how people who lack sense of humor can view things out of context and make a big deal out of nothing.

What I love is when she’s says let’s look at it in another way 😂 Trevor knows what he is doing and has put into care what he is saying because he is aware of his influence and truly this woman was turning what he is saying into a whole different meaning and trying to talk over him. Just because your voice is louder does not mean you are right. And props to Trevor for holding it down!
