There is no country that can transform the lives of all citizens even people who have refused to grab opportunities of the state's upliftintment programmes. South Africa of today has provided opportunities for millions who were suppressed under apartheid. Her situation was too dire for her to change her status. Her children have had opportunities to go to school and better their lives as well.

Yes, the ANC has done immense damage to South Africa but the real issues are the IMF and a global economic system which protects private property at all costs. The ANC had to implement neoliberal reforms not because they wanted to but because the so-called Washington Consensus made anything else impossible.
