Singapore is my all time most favourite place on the planet. I think I've been there around 30 times. The people are great, the food is fantastic and it's one of the most beautiful cities on earth. Hope you had as much fun as I do every time I go there!

mike the thunder rice is from the dialect group 客家人。the "thunder" is because the way the green tea soup is made, green tea leaves sesame seeds etc are hand ground in a special bowl with ridges on the side with a wooden stick and it makes the sound like rolling thunder. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jq6BgMabtsu7kZs.html how thunder tea is made from taiwan the chilli sauce (on the side) for the BBQ stingyray is made with shallots, chilli, "chin-cha-lok" n lime juice or white vingear (fermentated baby shrimp)

Yah.. that is how we usually eat " thunder ricer" mix with many type of ver on rice. should combined the thunder rice with tea soup and mixed it up then eat ymmmmmmm

Hi ya! that tea rice should be combined to eat. Dump the tea soup into the rice bowl and mix it up. yums. It is a very chinese dish as far as i know. (I am malaysian chinese)

You should've ordered the BBQ chicken wings and teh tarik(pulled tea), definitely must gets at lau pa sat. The teh tarik is famous and synonymous with lau pa sat

I went there last December, can't forget the wonderful food and people. Lau pa sat, Clarke quay and marina bay sands, best places I enjoyed. Singapore is just awesome 👍👍

If it is justified, good ahead and say. Respect do require honesty. If someone is unhappy with the food/place, say it and prefer which places/food to go/eat. That's the respect people appreciate.

singapore has vegan food but sadly the old vegan resturant have closed down.BUT you still can get vegan beehon in alot of hawker centers. i reccomend mock char siew and mock "goose" meat.(brown crunchy fried thingy)

Singapores mutton and beef satay is one of my favorites! And stingray with sambal is a must. Theres also their bbq chicken wings, fried oyster eggs, hokkien mee, mee goreng, East coast lagoon is a great place to eat everything

Mike, thunder tea rice is a Hakka dish and the right way to consume it is to pour the soup over the rice. The foods in Lau Pa Sat are a bit overpriced as compared to other hawker stalls in Singapore as it is a tourist spot. :) Welcome to Singapore!

Lee Yt ...I love 擂茶 but I actually detest the minty soup..haha. So I eat the rice dry style and I like it with the accompaniment of the savoury vegetables and crunchy nuts. Most hawkers in SG can't do this dish well. Which do you reckon is the best place for this Hakka speciality? I think the one in Geylang or Boon Lay HC?

Hey Mike! The Hakka Thunder tea rice is also called lei Cha fan (written in Chinese han yu pin yin). The soup you got on the side was supposed to be poured into the rice. This way, the Flavours will meld together much better as opposed to eating both components separately :) love from Singapore!!! ❤️❤️

For visitors to singapore do visit the cheap hawker centres islandwide and not these more overrated and expensive hawker centres! SG food is truly about it's cheap price and delicious flavours

That is the reason why alot of tourist claim that Singapore is expensive place to go. And i always heard tourist say how expensive things are in Singapore when they are shopping for things in orchard road and MBS. And took a cab everywhere to go.

For Thunder Tea (Lei Cha) rice, you gotta pour the tea into the rice. Many people prefer eating half their rice dry, and the rest of it with the soup. Mixing the two together in one bowl adds a whole new dimension to the flavor as compared to eating both separately

You need to check out Tiong Bahru market. It was closed for the renovation when I visited back in March and it should be reopen by now. I was also there in 2013 and 2015 and I just loved it.

Its amazing what you could miss when your eyes are closed and your mind is sneaking off to dreamland. All of that stuff looked really good. I can't wait for next year's international food festival to try the "meat on a stick" again. It didn't have any sauce save for the peanut sauce so I can't call it a BBQ but it was still delicious.... I really hope the Indonesians are there. O.O maybe next year they'll have shaved ice and mochi and bang bang and...... Ooooh My Gosh!...... I'm saving for the International Food Festival.... and fat pants :-P Thanks for uploading.

Singapore has major punishment for litterers, people who chew gum, cigarettes thrown on the ground, those who don't flush their public toilets etc. Strict rules, harsh punishment=clean environment. More countries around the world should adopt this kind of mindset.

fattymoko Actually it doesn't really feel as harsh as your description. Most people have the habit of looking for trash bins and we expect clean toilets everywhere so we flush to maintain that environment. But of course there are always bag eggs and they end up sentenced to hours of public service such as cleaning up the beaches or estates, or they end up with a fine, or both.
