Leah - Thank you for sharing your story. I very much enjoyed it. I have many similar stories myself. The safe space concept I agree is crucial. I am glad my students feel my office is such a space. I have many that come by seeking life advice, someone to listen, or just to chat. Life is stressful and it is nice knowing we are helping our students in multiple ways to be successful.

Grateful to have you as a colleague, Leah! Sometimes I am overwhelmed by feeling unequipped to help students with their many mental health challenges. This is a great reminder that providing a safe space for them is a good start, and sometimes enough.
